Does anyone remember in 2012 when we went into Florida who ended up being ranked I think #2 in the nation and finished the season 11-2. No one expected BG to even compete in the home opener. We lost that game because Stephen Klein our kicker at the time missed like 4, 27- yard field goals that game. We should of beat a great Florida Gators team. In past years from what I can remember for whatever reason BG has always played really well when there is zero expectations but always seem to under-perform when their is mass expectations. Everyone on that BG team has a chip on their shoulder and something to prove including the coaching staff. We still have great players replacing our offense, an extremely experience o-line with a similar system. The main question to whether BG actually makes this game a close one is our defensive coordinator and how prepared the D is to go against Barrett. BG is going to compete and anything nowadays is possible in college football, even D1 AA teams give these elite programs scares.

I hope BG plays there hearts out :supz:
Good post. I'm most concerned with our lack of experience at WR. I think there is talent there and they will be fine, but I worry about what they will look like in this environment. The word on Redding has always been he makes incredible plays in practice but can't translate it to games. Is he ready to step up? They all must run good routes, catch and secure the ball until the play is over to have any shot. We know what we are getting with Moore but these other guys are wild cards. The difference between this being an average team and a good team is at this position.

Also have to be careful on Special Teams. This is where we will be the most outclassed (see opener last year).

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Thanks for the reminder. This is a very passionate game for me and I must remember I represent the best U anywhere. My actions and words are a direct reflection on this great school.

That being said, I'm tired of being told we can't win, we have no chance, it isn't possible. Maybe I'm too optimistic, and to a fault, but why not us, why not now? I was at the aforementioned Florida game in the Swamp. BG EARNED respect that day from every Gator and Coach on their roster. Their fans were very complimentary as none of them expected BG to be a threat. We were a 29 1/2 pt dog. Yes, the odds are great....but to be great you must beat greatness.

As long as every BG player and coach believes they will win, there is the opportunity. Always remember Doyt Perry's words..."Any game can be won or lost". It really is true even if you don't believe it. But we have to play a flawless game and take advantage of every opp we get. It's tough enough going against all that talent and Urban. We need to win every play we possibly can. Think of what a win against OSU would do...

Love your optimism Freak.

Truth is NOBODY really knows anything about either of these teams. Both squads are replacing basically all of their major contributors. OSU brings a QB back that was great in '14 but pretty awful in '15. The rest of their roster is a whole lotta guys with 0 college snaps. We're an offensive first team that lost our top RB, QB, and top 2 WRs.

I am basing my expectations of a blowout loss purely on the fact that I think we have a harder time reloading without a hiccup than the OSUs of the world do.

I would LOVE to be wrong. Even a close loss would leave me very optimistic for the season. A win would be the greatest victory in the history of BG football. And any game CAN be won, for sure. Here's hoping!

Most of all I hope ya'll that are venturing back into that cesspool have a better experience than I did in '03. I don't see myself returning there anytime soon.

The only thing is our the replacement for Johnson played a whole year and won a bowl game and a championship when Johnson went down, which is a plus. The only downside is that its OSU.

After watching the Tennessee - Appalachian State game last night. I have more hope, watch the highlights if you missed it. Anything can happen

App State let that get away. They outplayed them and largely looked like the better team.

I also think App State is a really good Sun Belt team.

App State is a program to watch amongst the "you don't matters" of college football. Boone, NC is a bit out of the way, but it's one of those places that's easy to fall in love with.

This pic is gigantic...so here's the link only. What a beautiful area...

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
