Dieter to transfer

GO BG!!!
Re: Dieter to transfer
I loved Dieter when he was at BG, but could care less what he did at SMU and now at Alabama. Further, had Dieter transferred to Toledo would/should people be happy to see him doing great things? Could make a case either way, but I wouldn't want to see it. But for the record, I do think he's a great kid and I very much miss having him at BG.
GO BG!!!

In fairness, Dieter is no David Bautista. Not even close. I don't begrudge a young man for choosing to attend a different grad school. People do that all the time. But I'll reserve my cheering for the students who are still here.

No. It started 1 hour and 42 minutes in, and it never seemed to end.Flipper wrote:The wrestler?BGSU33 wrote:Ask David Bautista.Flipper wrote:Once a Falcon...always a Falcon? Is there an asterisk on the end of that saying that I missed?

I'm getting an error loading on that...it doesn't matter...I'm assuming he said something you found hurtful Maybe he's a jerk and says mean things about BGSU...does that mean you should be a jerk to other people? Why give Dave Bautista (not Bluetista) that much power over you?

I don't know how anyone can be upset with anything Bautista said (and yes, I watched the game so I heard the whole interview). You've gotta put yourself in his shoes. You're entering your senior season at BG, coming off a 2-9 season, and a young, fired up coach comes in and gets you to believe in yourself again. In the process, your team, that had no expectations, goes 8-3, with road wins over Missouri and Northwestern. You capped off your final game by blowing out That School Up North 56-21.
Of course those players are going to be life-long fans of Urban Meyer. He believed in them when no one else did. I was a student when Urban was hired. Most students on campus were casual fans at best, and they thought the football program was a joke. That all changed in 2001. These guys all have a personal relationship with Meyer. While they're still Falcons, it's only natural to cheer for the person you have a relationship with, over the school you graduated from 15 years ago. I guarantee they all want to see BG do well every season - and I'm sure they took pride in the 2013 and 2015 MAC Championships. In that game though, I don't blame any of them one bit for showing support for their old coach over their old team.
And let's be honest...None of those former players, no matter how much love they have for Urban, wanted to see the Falcons get blown out the way they did. They're still Falcons.

No...I'm OK...I'm just going to keep posting because he could say BGSU kids eat babies on a stick and that still wouldn't give you the right to get all pissy with Gehrig Deiter for transferring...

Re: Dieter to transfer
If you read that Josh Harris article last week he said he couldn't pull more for one team more than another because of the relationship he has with Meyer.

Re: Dieter to transfer
Yes, I see that he is supporting his coach, who is now at Ohio State. I also see the orange #18 on the jersey. I get where you're coming from, I just don't have a problem with him supporting Urban. It comes down to relationships. He obviously still has a relationship with Meyer. Probably doesn't with Bowling Green anymore. I didn't feel like he disrespected BG though.
I think I get what you're saying with him wearing the Ohio State shirt. That could have just as easily been a shirt with Urban's picture from his BG days. He's a guest on OSU's sideline though, I don't know what else he was supposed to do there.
