Our next opponent...N Dakota

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Lost to Stony Brook today, 13-9. SB blocked a punt and ran it in with less than 3 minutes left.

Perhaps we won't look so bad next week.

I'm sure that we will win, and hopefully we can get some momentum going into weeks 3 and 4, though my confidence in winning beyond the Fighting Sioux is low right now. Let's just focus on ND for now. One game at a time.

We can take no team for granted. We must play a great game to get back in gear. ND lost Sat but trust me, they will coming here to win.

GO FALCONS!!!

No doubt. After the bowl game last year and the game last week, it's been a long, LONG....9 months since our last win.
GO BG!!!

Way too soon to label any team as anything but the MAC East surely looks more putrid than usual this year. UB lost to Albany, OU loses to Texas St, B hammered by OSU, Akron pulled away from VMI in the 4th quarter. Kent and Miami probably had the best showings and that's not saying much.

I do expect to see a better effort on Saturday now that everyone has a game under their belt. Need a confidence boost before MTSU comes into town.

I'm not sure either team can mark this as a win after last week's games.

UND's offense played terrible (granted we were playing one of the top FCS defenses) Our defense actually played really well. I'm assuming nobody here watched the game, but UND was on the 2 yard line and about to go up 14-7 when our top receiver was hit, broke his leg, and fumbled the ball. We ended up getting a safety on the next play, but had we got the TD there, I'm fairly confident we win that game. Huge momentum shift after that play.

On the flip side, while BGSU didn't score an offensive TD, I'm sure a ton of that can be attributed to who you played. I still expected to see some more points from you guys, but there have also been a ton of departures and the coaching changes.

I expect to see 2 completely different teams out there this week. I expect to see BGSU get back to their typical offense (maybe not quite as potent as last year), with a lot of passing and attacking our young corners (weak spot of our D). I also expect to see our running game get back on track. Watch for the name John Santiago, you SHOULD hear it quite a bit on Saturday.

On defense, watch for the name Cole Reyes. He only played about a half against SB but had eight tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble, while also registering a safety. Big time leader for us on defense and should be good to go for Saturday.

Our QB had a really rough start to the SB game and could not find any rhythm. Started to look better late, but I really look to see he get back to last year's form, where he was a pretty solid starter.

I'm going to be a homer and take UND by 10; but it all rests on our running game, especially with our top receiver out. If BGSU is going to score, it will likely be through the air; UND does not allow much of a run game.

Can't wait to see how it all plays out. Frankly, neither team can do much worse than last week. :)

Nice preview. If BG loses this game then not only will there be a long season ahead of us, but I think the entire student body and alumni base will be calling for Jinks' head. I have a very difficult time imagining that happening, but that's why they play the games. I know Stony Brook gave Toledo a good game last year in the opener before it was cancelled due to weather, so some of us are familiar with them.

BG opened a 20.5 point favorite and I'll be all over that this week. The Falcons are a better team than what was displayed Saturday and I chalk it up to an inexperienced staff underestimating just how good the Buckeyes are and just how green some of the new faces are here.

Thanks for writeup, Siouxfan. Appreciate your insight. I agree with you that there are no guarantees for anything this week. After what I saw on Saturday, I really have no idea at all what to expect out of our guys. All I can hope is that the beat down we took and the resulting negative attention it brought will serve as motivation for this one and beyond.

Dave Clawson and Dino Babers wish they had the MAC East still on the schedule....Just make sure the bus makes it to the stadium and it's a W. The only exception is Ohio, and they are usually so injured they can't compete anyway.
