Hell, I would take 6 wins right now in a heart beat with whoever you put at quarterback. Do we really see this team winning five more games the rest of the year, regardless? Kent State, Buffalo and Miami will all be toss up games in my opinion. I hate to admit but we are in a full blown rebuild. Jinks needs to restock the cupboard like Clawson did. And remember, he got 5 years to do it.
Agree with pretty much everything here. Clawson got 5 years but that was a little bit of a different situation as his expectations were pretty low coming in and we hired him knowing he was a program builder.

I had an interesting thought the other day - Jinks likely doesn't have the longest leash seeing as how the current AD didn't hire him. While I know he will likely work out his contract for financial reasons, if Clawson were fired by Wake, would anyone else consider bringing him back? I went back and forth about it, but his recruits basically brought us those MAC championships. Not trying to start that argument as it's for a different day and thread, but you bringing up Clawson made me think of that.

Clawson's off to a 3-0 start this year...don't run him out of Wake Forest just yet

Uh ... folks ... we are still in September. Conference play is still two weeks away. I would gladly argue that all four of our non conference opponents are better than several conference teams.

Some perspective may be needed before anyone gets carried away down this thread ...

Jinks said today that Knapke is still the starter, seems to indicate that Morgan isn't doing enough in practice. I expect more of the same offensively against Memphis.

That's not encouraging that Morgan is still behind him. Knapke has completed only 50% of his passes, 3tds/6int and is only averaging 5 yards per attempt. He's not suddenly going to show vast improvement half way through his Senior year. What we have seen is pretty much what we're going keep seeing.

You can't throw Morgan to the wolves like that. I would expect to see him play some mop up and then have a wider role in conference play if Knapke doesn't improve

The gymnasts making this play should be this year's Johnson to Lewis...

Since today's game means absolutely nothing, I would hope they'll put Morgan in for at least a series or two. As I said before, I'd like to see Knapke and Morgan each play half of the game (whether they alternate series, quarters, whatever). However, if Morgan's not ready to play that much, for whatever reason, I still think it would be beneficial to get him in for a series or two each half. Winning or losing today will not have an impact us making it to the College Football Playoff (that ship has sailed), but getting both QBs some experience could help us contend for the title in a very, very weak MAC East Division.

At this point why not? There's nothing left to lose.

Very long time lurker, that finally took the time to get an account. What Knapke has shown us is that he is capable of turning a team that was looked at as a conference contender into a team we hope wins 2-3 more games. Morgan needs to play period. He will have growing pains but I can not remember a good BG team without a good QB to lead them, and Knapke is Matt Schiltz 0.1.

Let's be fair because Knapke won when he played under Babers so I would venture to say that he didn't suddenly forget how to throw a football. Pay attention during games and you'll see that the receivers NEVER break off routes regardless to defensive alignment or blitzing. Once the play is called they're locked into that route no matter what the defense does, be it zone, press coverage, blitzing situation etc. That's due to coaching not on the QB. Where's the hot read? Where's the sight adjustment that tells the receiver, "Zone Coverage so to break off route and squat in the hole. "
