I do believe that there was a sizeable donation made to pay for, at least, a good chunk of the board.
There typically is - but the money then is typically channeled elsewhere. We still "budget" for the scoreboard knowing that they will come at a much reduce rate or free.
Again - I can't speak to the Video Boards and any connection with long term advertising agreements. But I'll look into and let everyone know what I find out.
I like that the frame is being installed at the front of the pro shop and not against the wall. I believe there was a comment earlier about being able to see the board if it is against the wall. That will not be the case. The installation also allows for the suites and access to be built without moving the board. It looks to be smaller than the board at Stroh but should be effective.

If you look at the horizontal bracing it looks to be pretty wide. I hope they move the shot count modules from the old scoreboard to the other side of the arena since that scoreboard doesn't have them.
Shot count, scoring and penalties could also be included on the screen along one side and include replays depending on the size. Guess we'll see soon enough! I'm just excited it is finally happening!

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. Don't take this as gospel since it's just the rumor, but apparently a new video board is part of our deal with Learfield. Whenever we re-up it's one of the "perks" given.
And I doubt the screen is going to be that wide. Don't forget all the ads that will inevitably surround the thing. That's going to be prime real estate for advertising.
The video board is being paid for by an advertising partner and will serve as a “great interactive piece for the ice arena that will get fans engaged,” said Moosbrugger.

At the Stroh the ads are on the video board not around it so depending upon the event you can have different advertisements.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
Eigs posted this on Twitter. It does look like they're leaving some room on the side for some ad space. Will be interesting to see how they handle video/score keeping during games.
However, the video replay camera angles are the key. I'm assuming more cameras or camera workers are not being hired so the video replay we are probably going to see is the one from the press box. Unless rights are given to replay what's played on the internet when you were buy the feed to show those angles I'm sure that would be better.

With most games being carried by BCSN now I'm guessing they'll just use that feed for video replays, with one or two cameras used for in-arena broadcast.
