BGSUCKS!!!!!
Re: BGSUCKS!!!!!
I love Myles as much as the next guy but another blow for me is losing Jed's also. I loved that place and would always try to get there when I get back in town. Of course, it's a challenge to try to fit Myles, Jed's and Polleyes in the same weekend. I come back home and can't fit into anything but sweatpants! With Myles and Jed's both gone, we may have to call in the stuff stix order to Polleyes a week in advance now.
Throw in the loss of SBX and the team playing the way they are, to say this has been a very disheartening year is a huge understatement.

Re: BGSUCKS!!!!!
To me BG has long had 3 eateries that I would call "Quintessentially BG": Myle's Pizza, Pagliai's/Pollyeye's, and Mr. Spots. I know there is a Mr. Spots in Ann Arbor as well, but still the original is BG, and it is as dear to my heart as the others.
Myle's is the only one of the 3 that I grew up eating with any regularity. Started eating the others when I was in college (my brother worked at Pagliai's South for a couple years while he was in HS). I enjoy all 3, but Myle's is the one where I have emotional ties/memories that go beyond just getting food there because it tastes good.
I suspect that Reverend's and South Side 6 will eventually hold this same status for current kids growing up in BG/attending BGSU, but they are both too new to the scene for me to deem them as "nostalgic", even though I enjoy them both very much. I do already have friends that opt for SS6 gyros upon a return to town over any of the other places, so it's definitely getting there.
As for Jed's I miss it as an option as well. Luckily the Perrysburg Jed's seems to still be humming along, and living north of town it's really not much worse for me to get to that location than it was to park and walk to the downtown BG location. It definitely hurts to lose 2 local eateries and SBX all within the span of a year though. If they continue the talk of bringing in an Applebee's, a 5 guys, etc, we'll continue to see the local mainstays drop, I'm afraid.

I do not get the Five Guys hype at all.....middling food at best. Not even close to Koral Hamburg or even Bar 145

Amen! We've been going there every Tuesday night for pizza for the last year or so, but I had my worst pizza there. The breadsticks with the Jalapeno cheese is excellent.Flipper wrote:All that is left is stuffed breadsticks from Pollyeyes....
Re: BGSUCKS!!!!!
Good luck with the pizza hunt. They stopped taking orders today by 1pm. That's pre homecoming crowd, imagine what the weekend will be like. Perhaps should have mentioned the closing a couple weeks ago. So in today's sentinel, they said trotters bought it.

As for BGSU as a campus, my son made great friends on the team, student body and the public. For a kid from Hawaii to go out there and see what the midwest had to offer, it was life changing! Being welcomed to the Falcon family will stick for life! Forever Falcons!!! Just a dad's 2cents
Thanks for the kind words. Chief was a blast to watch and an honor to have him on the team. I will never forget the first time I saw him...at the Ice Arena at a BG hockey game. He was down by the glass with a foam finger and banging on the glass. It was awesome.
BGSU is truly a very special place...those that never attended will never know.

Some thoughts.
1. Why wouldn't Trotters just by the name and the recipe. Seems like business is good.
2. Campus is very ugly. It's a mismatch of buildings of different style with no real theme. If you have been to other campuses it's obvious that we are lacking a strong aesthetic feel.
3. I always hated Myles. Never understood why people thought it was good. Too cheesy for me. Yet it's very sad that yet another BG tradition is out the window.

Globe....were you dripped on your head in your formative years?

Sorry man, know you're a good dude and all, but seriously "too cheesy"? WTF... no longer respect your opinion on anything.Globetrotter wrote:Some thoughts.

As for 1. IT wasn't for sale. Chip refuses to sell, which is his prerogative as much as it upsets me. He'd rather ride off into the sunset with his legacy than cash his large lotto ticket. No financial reason to make this call, but obviously it's important to him.
2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've been to prettier campuses. I've been to uglier campuses. There are parts of the BG campus I find very aesthetically appealing, others notsomuch.

I know I'm vastly outnumbered but I MUCH prefer their pizza to the breadsticks. The breadsticks are ok, but I just don't see them as anything special. I can pretty much make them just as good myself.
Of course I also think that liquified nacho cheese stuff you're talking about is vile and not fit for human consumption, so clearly we differ on tastes...
Re: BGSUCKS!!!!!
Myles will be closed tomorrow and Thursday to make more sauce. Will reopen on Friday. With high school football on Friday and homecoming on Saturday I don't think they will make it to Sunday. They thought they had enough sauce to get through the weekend but nope, so they will be closed for a few days and reopen for the weekend.

Re: BGSUCKS!!!!!
We usually order thin crust, light on the sauce, 1.5X cheese and 6 toppings. It came out heavy on the sauce, light on the cheese, and enough bacon to choke a pig. It overpowered the pizza.
Had I been in a really crabby mood, I would have told them to make another one. I will next time

I don't know Chip all that well, but from what I do know, I can pretty much guarantee you that he's sitting on Millions and does not need the money at all.hammb wrote:As for 1. IT wasn't for sale. 15 bucks for a burger drink and fries should be much better. Oh wait you get peanuts so it's a deal.
Re: BGSUCKS!!!!!
Sucks I will never eat at Miles again. No place like it IMO.
