He's built for this offense and needs to learn, simple as that. I believe Tyler Sheehan had a similar experience and he turned out alright.

Re: Morgan Named Starter vs. EMU
I sincerely hope a week practicing with the 1s and a shakeup in the receivers will lead to a drastically improved look on offense.

Feel bad for knapke. He was in a no win situation. Our receivers have sucked. I don't expect much from Morgan

Could not agree more. I think we'll beat EMU no matter who is at QB, though.

His receivers didn't help him....but Knapke showed the same issues that dogged him during the tough stretch of Dino's 1st year. He misses throws and locks in on guys way too soon.
Knapke is a sr...he doesn't have the ability to carry the team on his shoulders so you might as well find out if Morgan is your guy going forward....

I do as well...he's had to learn 3 systems in 5 years and was not recruited for the last 2. He's a really good kid but I think we need to stick with Morgan at this point.gspointer wrote:Feel bad for knapke. He was in a no win situation. Our receivers have sucked. I don't expect much from Morgan

I feel bad for him as well, but something tells me we haven't seen the last of Knapke this year. I'm not sold that Morgan is going to take this team over like Johnson did vs Tulsa and run away with it. Knapke's receivers killed him in the Memphis game. He'd never come out and say it, but we all saw what happened. That doesn't mean he played a flawless game himself or that we would have won, but his receivers gave him zero chance to succeed that night. But I do like that we're trying with Morgan, I just don't know if it's going to matter one bit. This team has way more problems than just who the QB is.Falconfreak90 wrote:I do as well...he's had to learn 3 systems in 5 years and was not recruited for the last 2. I've said it bunch of times now but Knapke very much reminds me of Schilz. Senior guys who have been around and you want like hell to see them succeed, but they just seem to have plateaued earlier in their career. I'd even go back and thrown Ryan Henry in there as an example of that, where he seemed to hit his high point earlier his career and tailed off as an upperclassmen. Can you imagine if Knapke threw 6 picks in a game like Henry did?? We'd be ready to run him out of town.
Guys like Schilz, Knapke, Turner, Schneider, they just don't/didn't have "it" at the QB spot. And we all know "it" when you see it. Guys like Harris, Jacobs, Sheehan and Johnson, they had it and you could see it. To me that's what we missing. And it's to be seen if Morgan has it or not.

Re: Morgan Named Starter vs. EMU
There's no point in playing Knapke the rest of the season if Morgan fails today, you're better off swallowing the pill and letting Morgan get his reps and experience for the future than let him toil away as the backup when you know your season is likely already over. This will be Morgan's show unless he completely craps the bed or in the worst case scenario, finds himself injured.BGSU33 wrote:I feel bad for him as well, but something tells me we haven't seen the last of Knapke this year. Jinks said today that Morgan will start the rest of the season.

Not sure how you can or why you would put that publicly in stone, but okay.jpfalcon09 wrote:Jinks said today that Morgan will start the rest of the season.
That being said, I think we win the EMU game if Knapke started and played the whole game. But this team is going nowhere, so I agree that Morgan should be given a chance to learn on the job the rest of the season.

Re: Morgan Named Starter vs. EMU
I found it odd as well, seems to me either he's caving to pressure from external sources or he's of the line of thinking that this season is largely already over and needs to get his QB of next year some reps as the starter.Redwingtom wrote:Not sure how you can or why you would put that publicly in stone, but okay.jpfalcon09 wrote:Jinks said today that Morgan will start the rest of the season.

Re: Morgan Named Starter vs. EMU
Looking forward, I think that Jinks will have to work with his QB of the future. Rebuild the depth of guys in the trenches and the Defense as a whole. Lay the ground work the rest of this season, recruit like no other and build to be competitive again.
