It was baffling. I was thinking is there some rule about being near the line of scrimmage you can tackle bros?Flipper wrote:Horrible non call...LB just flattened ZImmerman when the ball was in the air...

Re: OU thread
Our OLine is really disappointing...more so that any unit. Morgan is getting heat on every down
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: OU thread
I'm sensing we are about to see the biggest problem with this team. The lack of mental resilience. This team so far has not shown any ability to get mentally tough and respond when the chips fall the wrong way. This team avalanches ... like Brandon's late teams.

Re: OU thread
They need to ditch playing with tempo with the offense being as poor as it is. The defense is getting run into the ground.

That's been the case since Clawson left...pack up the tents and load up the trucks at the first sign of troubleMarkL wrote:I'm sensing we are about to see the biggest problem with this team. Just no way a new AD lets Jinks get another year not on his watch .... he have to many connections to let thus happen... it will be a veteran coach or an alumni

Re: OU thread
Short of a Chris Jans-type incident, Jinks will be back. I can't see a booster forking over the $1 million-plus it would take to make a change.60yearsofsicsic wrote:Just no way a new AD lets Jinks get another year not on his watch .... he have to many connections to let thus happen... it will be a veteran coach or an alumni
Re: OU thread
Barring a Frack-like donation, Jinks will be here for a little while. Who knows, this team may come together this year and make a late rally. Maybe the coaching staff will improve together and get it together. Maybe the hot recruiting will continue and we'll all look back on 2016 the same way WMU fans look back on 2013.60yearsofsicsic wrote:Just no way a new AD lets Jinks get another year not on his watch .... he have to many connections to let thus happen... it will be a veteran coach or an alumni

Not only can we not afford it...but doing something like that would make us a less than attractive job option. Who wants to go to work somewhere that pulls the plug on a guy w/o really giving him a chance to build his program?

BG has 18 turnovers this year in 22 quarters of football.

Re: OU thread
We have problems on offense and defense - big problems on both. Honestly what adjustments can the coaches do which have a good chance of working but will not hurt the team's chemistry? Quick thought on each side of the ball ...
- defense: the secondary is very problematic. But giving up big run plays all day, especially late? More problematic. Therefore I say blitz the LBs all damn day to help out our struggling defensive line. We'll give up some big plays, but we already do. Perhaps we can stop some offenses from running all day against us ... and believe me, I'm scared of that one next week, big time.
- offense: slow the tempo down. Our tempo is not an equalizer the way it was a couple years ago. We do not have as experienced of players and opposing defenses are more acclimated to our tempo. Slow it down and find somebody who can be a blocking TE / blocking FB. Chris Pohlman a couple years ago had hands problems but he was an outstanding blocker that sprung some big runs late in the season. In doing so you may also help the defense by giving them fewer possessions to defend.
