I'll take an undisciplined team committing dumb penalties over this undisciplined team making dumb turnovers. Chances of winning go down drastically when you turn the ball over. Especially when you create none as well.

The team had some good moments today. Redding came alive today, the passing game often worked, etc. And Redding had that awful drop, Morgan threw a bad and unnecessary pick, and the defense gave up too many sustained drives.

I swear, if this team ever puts together a consistent high effort, they will be great. They just have not done anything consistently in these two MAC games. If I can say a positive, it is this: lots of players coming back next year. Lots of young players. I am hoping 2016 growing pains turn into 2017 big wins.

That fourth-and-32 tip drill touchdown pass to Scotty Miller was something to see. Nice job, Falcons.

Now that fourth and 2 fade pass looks really ... really bad. Nice effort late, guys. If they play like that for four quarters, they can win some games.

Another close but no cigar loss. Too bad, showed some heart late in the game.

Improvement is there the last 2 weeks. My question...3rd and 2 at the OU 4, where the hell was Donovan Wilson???

Turnovers killed us today as we could have won this game. I have hope for wins.

Honestly, this game makes me optimistic for at least a few more wins this year. Next week may be bad, but the week after we may actually beat Miami.

Why did Jinks end the game with a timeout in his pocket?

I don't know...they threw a swing pass to him that was covered because he's too slow to separate on 3rd and goal earlier. That's a coaching issue..not putting kids in a position to best utilize their talent. Wilson is great running downhill twixt the tackles. Let him do that.

I think we can set aside some of the hysterics...we're going to be fine. This year might be rough, but Morgan is a stud and you can win the MAC when you have a stud QB
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

We didn't have a time out. The tv said we did but with about 2:30 left we took a time out on 3rd down. That was the down after Morgan got sacked after 2nd down. Then the next platform got sacked again. Didn't take a time out there and that's when we got the TD on the tip drill. After calling that time out on the 2nd down play we had ONE left but the tv screen said two but it was only one remaining. Then we called our last timeout after 1st down on OU possession. Then they went into victory mode. Simply put BG didn't have a timeout left. The TV screen and announcers were wrong.

Some random thoughts from the only game I'll see in person this year:

-I liked the fight from both sides of the ball. They could have easily thrown in the towel and didn't.

- Morgan will be a good one. He missed some crossing throws behind the receiver. The 3rd int was brutal and he tried to escape the pocket by running backwards a lot, but that first TD throw was all I needed to see. That was really good. Give him the rest of the year to get some experience and I think he'll be really good for 3 years.

- playmakers - I go back to clawson's plan in the first MAC title game. They made Ronnie Moore the focal point in the first couple possessions and schemed him into opportunities to make plays. He's the only game breaker we've got in my opinion and he's underutilized. One bubble screen to Scotty Miller with Moore and 145 pound Zimmerman blocking made me laugh.

- Coaching - decision making on both sides drove me nuts. A wasted time out for BG to start the 3rd quarter on 3rd and long. I hated the call to throw another fade to Redding on 4th and 1. Solich taking the 10 yard penalty on the extra point and then kicking on 4th and 6 inches were head scratchers on their side.

In other news, we are no longer the recipients of the worst blowout of an FBS team by an FBS team of the season. Rutgers lost to conference mate Michigan 78-0 yesterday, which is four points worse than our beatdown by Memphis. And last week, Rutgers lost 58-0 to Ohio State, meaning in two games they have lost by a combined 136-0. Also under a first time head coach.

My quick takeaways- if this team can go 5 plays and score it shows me the play calling is suspect. Also, both lines seem to be playing ok- O line was giving Morgan a ton of time in pocket most of the day- are the WRs not getting depredation? Running bad routes? DLine was getting decent pressure, our zone coverage is just plain awful, couple that with poor tackling and it's a recipe for frustration.
