Particularly today, the phrase "Go Get 'em, Tigers!!!" seems a little too opponent-friendly.

Tigers??
I'm not a band dude, so maybe there's something else behind this...but Grant, can you adjust the description of this forum so it reflects our allegiances appropriately?

McMetz811, the Go Get em Tigers phrase actually applies to the alternate rank of pregame. While it now is known as Talon rank, it used to be called Tiger rank by Chief. I found this out last season from Mr. Nowlin. As keeper of tradition, I'm sure any questions of this nature can be answered by him. As for the trumpets Grrr-ing as they enter the field...I have no idea why, but it's fun
I love band! Be good to your horn, it's been good to you hasn't it? ^_^
Considering I marched tiger rank my first year, I already knew that. And how can something be called Talon rank now when we don't even have alternates? I don't see any of the people you would consider "alternates" our marching down the field behind the band like we used to. The only Talon I know is the name of one of our A-bands.

I found this and thought I'd post it for those who are interested. Someone else said "Go get 'em Tigers" had a large history with the band and it goes back further than I thought. So for those of us who are so young
, here ya go.
"The Sun Always Shines on The 'Tiger' Band"! - "Chief" Mark S. Kelly, Director of Bands, BGSU 1966-1996, emeritus Director of Bands; Professor emeritus of Music Education
It was in an email from an FMB alum who marched the 1965-1968 seasons when Cheif began his tenure at BG.

Thats pretty funny.
On a side note, I believe that Mr. Kelly was only here until 1994, when Moss showed up, but I could be mistaken.
Ahh.....I remember marching in Tiger Rank for a good portion of 2000. That was depressing, but like with most things, I prefer quality over quantity. Remember the days when not everyone marched? Ahhhh.....
