The silver lining is they've lost all three conference games by one score or less. Even with a young team and new staff, they're not far off from things being different in conference play, and that is encouraging.BGSU33 wrote:I wouldn't be surprised to see some wins now too, but that's solely based on the fact that we're going to be playing some teams equally as bad as we are. Miami, Kent State and Buffalo are each possibly wins since they stink too. No way am I ready to declare that we are all of a sudden a better team that turned the corner because of one game, which was a loss by the way. I wouldn't feel any different had we beat Toledo either. That said, I do think we've shown glimpses of progress. But until the losses stop and the wins start coming, we can speculate all we want about improvement because the bottom line is, good teams find ways to win games and bad ones don't. And we're 1-6. Nothing more needs to be said.

Hockey and football are a combined 1-9-1 this year. I could really use a Myles' pizza to cheer me up...

Liked the interaction theTV crew picked up on the sidelines with Jinks and Morgan in ...I think the 4th qtr...when Jinks was slapping him on the pads and helmet and laughing...like he was trying to get him to just relax and play. Don't think I've seen Jinks that animated before

I'm not a fan of what we've been getting from the American Sports Network. In particular, yesterday's crew seemed really ill-informed. They kept forgetting what down it was. They criticized the kick after the Zimmerman (?) touchdown as a pooch kick, apparently forgetting that the Falcons had been penalized 15 yards for the back-flip into the end zone. They said "MAC conference" before the game even got going and they even mixed up the school nicknames at one point.Flipper wrote:Liked the interaction theTV crew picked up on the sidelines
I'm glad all of our games are on TV, but the commentary could be a lot better.

Unfortunately with nearly every game and every conference on ESPN3 you're going to get very watered-down commentary.

I don't listen to them...I turn the sound down and watch. I kill less brain cells that way

It made me miss guys like Michael Reghi and Ray Bentley, put it that way.gmartin wrote:Unfortunately with nearly every game and every conference on ESPN3 you're going to get very watered-down commentary.

I've heard plenty of MAC coaches say MAC Conference.Schadenfreude wrote:I'm not a fan of what we've been getting from the American Sports Network. And I've heard SEC conference more times than I can count. Don't get the big deal about this. Same people that get upset by Bowling Green State I guess.

Yeah, but the men's basketball team....um....well...never mind....Critical Thinker wrote:Hockey and football are a combined 1-9-1 this year. I could really use a Myles' pizza to cheer me up...

Men's hoops won 16 games last year with their 3rd coach in three years...add three really good guard recruits this year and a decent looking JUCo 3/4......i LIKE our chances this year

Re: Welcome to Rock Bottom
Hockey will be fine once WCHA play starts back up...they aren't playing well right now and they aren't skilled enough to overcome bad nights. They just aren't a top 20 program...no matter how much our fans want to believe that.
Football is embarrassing....but we'll win a couple down the stretch and people will be optimistic until the season starts next year and we lose again.
Basketball needs to start winning...should be interesting to see Huger try to get the program back to relevance.

Shh...don't let the negative Nelly's realize that it takes TIME to rebuild the thing that Dakich v2.0 & Orr destroyed.Flipper wrote:Men's hoops won 16 games last year with their 3rd coach in three years...add three really good guard recruits this year and a decent looking JUCo 3/4......i LIKE our chances this year
Then the Jans thing sure as hell didn't help.
Huger had that team playing some ball at times last year, and made a better run in the tourney than we have since Dakich v1.0. We did it relying on a few talented freshman, and we've got more good looking recruits coming in this year.
I see BG Hoops trending upward, and even better, they're doing it with a style of basketball that's fun as hell to watch.

Re: Welcome to Rock Bottom
Saw a pic of Wiggins on Twitter yesterday ( he and Huger were hand delivering season tickets) he now looks like one of those Purdue styled bigs that will beat you up for 40 minutes ....except he isn't white
.
Really looking forward to this season...
