As a public service I would like to ask the folks of this board to stop reminding me that we have games. I had completely forgotten until I saw the thread(s) on here about the game. Since the Indians ensured they were gonna lose in the 1st inning I went ahead and flipped over to the game. I tried flipping back and forth between the two, and my hats off to you die hards on this year...I'm thinking of you Freak.
This team is completely, wholly unwatchable. And I watch the Browns every week, so I'm somewhat used to watching bad football. But this group? At no point in this game, even when they tied it up 7-7 did I think we had a remote chance of winning. NIU looked like they could basically tell our entire defense which run play was coming and they'd pop it for 6; every. single. down. Then on offense everything we gained looked like we were working our asses off just to move the sticks. Going for it on 4th down multiple times. 2 blocked kicks (xp & fg).
It's just a crapshow. I hope Jinks & crew are ready to figure out what went wrong this year and are ready to bring in a new host of recruits, and fix some issues with the returners, because this team is unfathomably bad. That said, mad props to Teo Redding for that TD catch. As good of a catch as you'll ever see.
For the most part I agree,
"wholly unwatchable" is a bit much, as fans, BG alumni, etc... we should support the athletic teams through the rough times. The hope I having watching this team is that they're young and both the young players and coaching staff will grow and develop. I was amazed when ESPNU showed the BGSU sidelines, some of the coaches look almost the same age as the players. Other than current guys developing and adding a solid recruiting class, I'd like to see Jinx bring in some more experience on the staff for next season.
It's a really bad team in the trenches. OL can't block...what an incredible disappointment they've been. If there's one spot on the field that stands out for a new coach it's OL. DL is weak...no pressure on the QB, unable to stop the run. They look weak...weak as kittens. Have to call the strength coach into question. Other than some time as an assistant in Texas...I don't know what qualifies him to be a strength coach. What certifications does he have...what educational background does he have in kinesiology or athletic training? We haven't looked like a team that can thump you since Hourigan left with Clawson.
Hopefully some ofthe verbals at WR stick and actually show up here because other than slots ZImmerman and Miller....no one has stepped up. Phouthavong, Pough and Redding (last night's catch aside) have been nonfactors or inconsistent at best. Then again ...their position coach has next to no experience coaching WR's...so maybe we should look at him as well.

I've been wondering about strength and conditioning too. And had the same wonders in Babers' first year. I have always wondered if there is a correlation between first season under a new strength and conditioning coordinator and injuries. Maybe I just remember it more, but it always seems a head coach's worst year injury wise is his first, and most coaches bring their own strength and conditioning coordinator.

am i the only person who thinks its weird that ronnie moore is blocking on jail break screens for miller? It's like the coaching staff could care less that moore has been our most explosive guy with the ball in space the last 3 years.
All you have to do is watch the sideline and know we are on the "soft" side. Players wearing parkas when it is 45-50 degrees, and coaches standing there with their arms crossed, basically watching the game rather than coaching.

Per a tweet I read earlier this year from ...some guy who seemed to know a lot of players.....Moore was told by an assistant "I don't give a f**k about your senior year"

The reality is we have a coach and staff that has absolutely no clue what they are doing. Anyone that has watched even a quarter of BG football this year can see that. I'm not saying they can't figure things out and put together a good year down the road, but this year has been at the expense of our seniors and anyone that has spent any money to go to a game. I don't see things getting any better. If we were improving from week to week I would be more optimistic. The real shame is it appears that we have a QB with a lot of upside that may end up with 2-3 wasted years. Honestly if I were Morgan I would be thinking about my options.
He's got three years left...but unless he drops a level he has to sit one to play two. Going to have to ask himself if it's worth sitting one to save two or does he think they can turn it around after next year.

Yup...soft is a good adjective for this team. This hire may haunt BG football for a decade.
