Do you think that Josh Almanson has NBA-calibur stuff? I think he may go in the second round of the draft.

No chance...I just don't see him in the NBA because he does not have the speed necessary to be a power forward which is what his size would probably translate into in the NBA.

I'd love to see Josh get a chance, but I just don't think that he'll have the athleticism to make it in the NBA. His size would, as Tom states, put him likely at PF, which would have him matching up against guys like Drew Gooden, Kevin Garnett, and Rasheed Wallace. He's got a good shot, but I don't know if his shot is good enough to go against these sorts of players. Right now he's light years away from being strong & quick enough to post up against them either. He's doing a good job in the MAC, but the inside at the NBA Level is a whole other ball game.

I hope he gets a shot to at least prove himself in camp, but I'd be surprised if he made it big. However, he has proven to be a relentless worker, and much like McLeod that can overcome any size/speed deficiencies.

I wouldnt be suprised to see a team sign him to a 10-day contract for the summer and see how he works out...but seeing how BG doesnt get any national exposure...i don't see him getting drafted or considered unless of course BG makes a run in the tourney like the K State teams in the past

Almanson in NBA...

Post by Falconboy »

Yes, Almanson defiencies are his lateral quickness and overall speed. The only way I see Josh getting to play in the NBA is to maybaye put on more bulk and muscle. He's got the shooting touch for sure, but is too just too slow I think.

Almanson's only path to the NBA is through playing overseas and the NBDL. He should be able to hook on with a European team....If Kevin Netter can Almanson could be an MVP of one of the EURO leagues. That is in his grasp. He would have to play GREAT over there to make the NBA. Then again, the MAC's leading scorer, as he has been most of the year, is a pretty big accomplishment that should warrant attention from at least a few NBA scouts. Leading the MAC in scoring isnt exactly like leading the SWAC in scoring, it's a huge accomplishment.

We can bash Netter all we want, but Josh has nowhere near the athletic ability that Netter has as far as running the floor and jumping...too bad he just did not have the work ethic necessary.

Also, I don't believe Josh is leading the league in scoring anymore.
