I'm a believer that Jinks can grow into the role of college head coach. I just thought after such recent success we should be well above other programs who hire first time coaches with the hope of them growing into the position.

It's where we are. I have two suggestions for next year. 1, in the off-season we will certainly be replacing some assistants. It always happens. Prioritize coaching experience. If, say, we are replacing our DC, we would need to hire someone with defensive coordinator experience. I would love to hire a DC with FCS head coaching experience in order to add a good veteran. 2, call up a veteran retired coach and see if he can drop by to give a motivational speech to the players. While there, observe Jinks running practice and give him some critique when done. Is Lloyd Carr available for a quick drive down to Bowling Green to pass on some wisdom?

The is the least optimistic I have been about BG football since I started watching BG football in 99. I see zero signs that Jinks can grow into this role.

In the summer he was saying how talented this team was. A few losses later he is singing a different tune. He either has no eye for talent or we have talent and he has no idea what he is doing. I see coach who has no idea what he is doing. I don't blame him, I'll sign a contract and look silly for a few years and bring home 7 figures.

To be honest you are the most depressing people to interact with. I have no idea if Jinks is a great coach, terrible coach or somewhere in between. What I do know is that we lost a TON of talent off of last years team. Really where would you pick a single position area over last year? Oline? No, QB No, Receivers No pretty much anything? NO! Would it have been great to see magic? Of course, we all want the next coach to be Urban Jr., but that is unlikely. Even with all the doom and gloom 3 loses are by 7 or less. Which means close games. Who is to say these close games won't be W's next year? And really as much as I bleed orange and brown, we are BG, we have the lowest level of spending in the MAC, so where does that put us in the nation? Let's not act like we are entitled to winning. At the end of the day we have provided an opportunity for thousands of young men to get a great college education and in doing so they have provided us with a million great memories, that is all we can ever ask of this level of college program. So I will continue to support this team regardless of record

BG, has won the Mac, and east for the past three or four years. Do you think you are entitled to win every year? It would be nice, but all the other MAC schools are always building their program as we are. I have no problem losing considering what we lost last year. Take a moment and think what Toledo is going to do without Hunt, QB and WR and linemen graduating. W. Mich will be losing most of their backfield and QB. Ohio and Akron same.

If we had an explosive back that can hit the holes will make a big difference. Our Defensive backs are young, but will have one year of experience. Toledo is losing their whole Def. Backs. Check their roster out. I feel confidence in what we have going into next year except at running back.
Next year first four games scheduled is nowhere as difficult as this year. Coaching will be one year experience in the MAC. I feel good with what we have and knowing where the other elite schools in the MAC will be.
What we need to work on is fan support. The basketball game yesterday had only 1500 people at the game. This is so sad to be a D-1 school with pride.
They are playing for BG and should be supported.

BG lost so much talent that they were picked to win the East this year. This blame Dino, no talent on the roster excuse, just doesn't work. Poor BG doesn't have the funds to win doesn't work. It's just what gets tossed out by administrators when they do the job poorly themselves. Good and bad coaches are fairly obvious. Go ahead, let your fandom find excuses for it. That's what BG would expect you to do.

JC runs a 4.4ish 40 and he's powerful enough to squat 400....how much more "explosive " can you get? The line isn't getting a consistent push and they aren't getting it done on pass protection

I put much of the blame for a sputtering offense on the line and frequently dropped passes

Dead on! Too many excuses not enough people doing their job.

Agreed. As I said in another post, this is why I spend less and less time here. The negativity is off the charts anymore. Even when BG teams win, people find something in which to bitch.

I will be at the Akron game....GO FALCONS!!!

Hard to be anything other than negative when your alma mater is one tipped ball away from being winless

Good grief, this board sounds like it has been taken over by a bunch of self entitled Alabama fans!

While we don't call out players by name (except the qb's and kickers) we need to call the whole damn team out! I don't care who is the coach, at this level you should know how to tackle. If you don't, the coach wasted a scholarship. If you don't know to come back to the ball or run under a pass, the coach wasted a scholarship. If you cannot seem to be able to wait for the snap count, the coach wasted a scholarship. When you have a coach who had his agent looking for the next job last September, that should say something about how he thought the season would go. The former AD, who I believe knew he was leaving, filling this job is just as bad.

With what I have seen this season talent is not an issue. I don't think motivation is an issue either. I think we have a team that is throwing a temper tantrum because they are not playing an "all offense/no defense" style of football. As to Mike Jinks, I don't know if he will be a great coach here. But I do know he is all in with BG football. He's going to learn and get better. Hopefully the team will stop acting like three year olds and start listening. If they won't, I would take all their scholarships and sign new players. I don't think Doyt Perry would have success with the attitude of this team.
