Yeah...the two forums with the highest traffic are for sports (football and hockey) that have been ...not so hot...this year. I think both genders will do well ...maybe well..er...than the past couple of years and gymnastics is on the upswing. Swimming and diving are good. Tennis...nowhere to go but up. Men's soccer is #2 seed going into the MAC.

Football has been a fricking bitter pill to swallow...primarily because it's soooooo easy to point at the staff and say "WTF". And the guy that made that hire bailed shortly thereafter...he literally bought a pig in a poke and then left before the pig crapped all over us :)

Hard to be positive honestly. Things looked better after the Toledo game given the compete level of the players, but it's been a consistent regression ever since that day. They lost by 3 to EMU, 6 to Ohio and 7 to Toledo. It could be argued that the team honestly wasn't that far away from being contenders again. Losing by 14 to Miami and 25 to NIU after that basically spits in the face of those results.

The attitude of the team has sucked all season long. I don't care if the players want to play a certain way, you listen to the coach and adapt to what he wants the team to do. I think a sense of entitlement permeated through the players before the season started, given past success and predictions of another MAC East title, and that does irk me. They've been mentally weak all year, don't respond well to adversity and have packed in their tents recently which has been extremely disappointing. It does not bode well for the future unless Jinks can recruit some character guys who can emerge as leaders for the program after this year.

Akron should win Wednesday as well, although BG being +8 in Vegas suggests some people are leery about the Zips.

Up after Akron is Kent. They have been a very different team since a QB change to a dual threat in Nick Holley. However, today Kent State announced the indefinite suspension of four year starter at safety Nate Holley after an arrest - and from what I've read it sounds ugly, but innocent until proven guilty so I won't spread anything I've heard. Holley was a very major part of that team, so whatever selfish thing he did, he seriously set back his team as they were starting to put something good together.

Agreed. As I said in another post, this is why I spend less and less time here. The negativity is off the charts anymore. Even when BG teams win, people find something in which to bitch.

I will be at the Akron game....GO FALCONS!!!
Agree! And thank you, 2006Grad! I often just click on "Mark Topics Read" so I don't have to waste my time reading through this sea of hate. Trust me, I get it the disappointment. I haven't been happy with the hockey results, so I do understand the frustration with the football team.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

But some of the stuff is just plain outright ridiculous.

YES - we're down this year.
YES - we may not beat an FBS team this year.
YES - we may finish the season 128 out of 128 on defense.

NO - I'm not happy about it. But no matter how much some people complain and find every dadgum negative statistic to post about this team, I know the sun is going to rise tomorrow morning from the east and set tomorrow night in the west. I hardly log in anymore to even click on MARK TOPICS READ. Who started the thread - OK, I'll skip that one from Mr. Sunshine. I find myself reading the Eastern Michigan, Kent State, and NIU Boards on the MAC Board more than our own.

I guess you all are better than me. I find it hard to be anything but negative with the way this season has gone. Out of 9 games we played decently well, what once?

It would be one thing if improvement was being shown regularly.

Guess I don't see the big deal. What difference does it make if it is positive or negative around here. Neither are going help this team get a victory. And if the players read this they are not reading anything they don't know.

I get tired of the same ole everything is going be ok posts but I don't feel the need to act all high and mighty about it. Oops.

Yeah...I'm not really into having someone else dictate to me how I'm supposed to interact with college football

And I called it. This game was winnable. It was not a pretty game and there is a lot to learn, but for once we made fewer mistakes than the opponent and we capitalized on their mistakes. Learn, improve, build, and never settle.

Yeah, honestly coming to the board this season has felt like a chore at times. Between people posting ridiculous sarcastic threads to the same topics being repeated over and over again, it's grown exhausting. Even worse is being told how to be a fan.
