Yeah. We're competing against a good scoring team despite horrendous shooting from those guys. I think Frye and Caldwell are better than this...

Matt Fox provides solid minutes. He's easy to root for.

Cut the lead down to 3 but 2 bad plays by Caldwell.

I'm a fan because he's a very limited player but when he's a spot up shooter he flat knocks then down.

And Caldwell needs to take this timeout to freaking breathe. Cmon man. He's done some good things but crazy out of control and horrid shots...

Man oakland picked a good time to go unconscious. This one is done.

We fought hard considering missing so many guys, but man the freshmen were disappointing. Neither Frye or Caldwell ever really settled into the game. Alcegaire kept us in it for the most part.

Not a great performance but promising. When we are depending on freshman that's trouble. Hope a couple upper classmen learned a lesson tonight and will be there for their team the rest of the way.

All MAC teams won so far tonight except BG. And EMU vs Pitt currently in double OT.

Frye's got a sneaky quick handle...he froze a couple guys with head fakes. Seriously needs some time in the weight room. Would have been great to RS him. Uju showed some skills and the ability to bang a bit down low...I feel better about our inside depth. Worrell can give us some solid offense in the low post... he seemed more assertive offe3nsively than he did last year. Alcegaire played well...Wiggins looks stronger and more confident..tends to get a little manic trying to defend the rim. If you're waiving your arms around and trying to swat everything..they're going to call a foul. If you're defending the blocks with your arms and not your hips..they're going to call you for a foul.

I think we have a chance to be a real pain in the ass (again) by the end of the year as this team jells. We probably win tonight with Ish and Lillard because we leaned way too heavy n freshmen guards and still almost pulled it out.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Ideally, BG would have another wing player with some size, but when the full roster is available this team will be much better than last. Once again, wins and losses will come down to making shots. I believe BG has enough size for what the MAC needs, however teams that play this small have to be able to make shots.

I fully expect Ish and Lillard to dominate the minutes at the guard spots this year. Would hope to see both over 25 mpg. That's a major loss to okay without either of them. And I think Turner and Lillard are supposed to be those wings we needed last night.

Frye did surprise me with his quick last night, he didn't look as good in the exhibition, imo. Both he and Caldwell were able to get free at times but neither could settle down and finish. I hope that's not a problem all year. Oddly the one long jumper Caldwell hit was a thing of beauty, got past his man pulled up with good form and drained it just inside the arc...but all the rest of his shots he was falling around off balance...at the rim neither freshman looked like they had ever shot a contested layup in their lives...they had plenty of opportunities. But its their first d1 game, so some head-spinning is expected...and then we needed them both to play so much... Frye might become a good player but he needs at least 30# of bulk added...he has the face of a 16 year old and the body to match.

Actually I think it shows you what coach thinks of Malik given how much Caldwell played and how poorly he was shooting.

Ish is the one guard we can count on to actually run the offense though. We will rely heavily on that.

It was nice to see alcegaire shoot the jumper with good form. He's a good shooter when. He does, he's an awful shooter when he's falling or leaning all the time.

The way we completed with a very athletic, fast tempo, high scoring team without our 2 top ball handlers was encouraging to me.
