Seems like more and more WR's are declaring for draft each day. Competition is getting tougher if you hope to get drafted.

Lewis tweeted that he's received an invitation to the combine, very good news for him.

I'm glad to see it looks like it is working out for him. I admit I has plenty of doubts.

They just said he's been replaced after a drop on a play we've seen him make many times . Gruden flat out said " if u want to stay in this league, you make that catch. ( had a couple drops last week too evidently)

People were throwing huge fits on Twitter over him being terrible. He had a tendency to drop passes here at BG as well, but he made enough big plays to get a look at the next level. However, that next level doesn't accept the drops as much as college does.

He'll likely have an upward climb next spring and summer to stay on the Giants roster, or to latch onto another team. The ball he dropped last night needs to be caught if you're going to play in the NFL.

Not a good game for Otto. He also broke off a route where Eli gave him a signal to go deep that he missed as well as not making much of an effort on a ball that was intercepted...although I think that one was more on Eli.

Bottom line, when you're an UDFA, you can't afford to make any mistakes. He's been fortunate so far due to injuries to others this year, but that good fortune will not last, he's got to start making his own.

FWIW - He's also the gunner or whatever you call the WR guy on punt coverage...and to me, he looked quite uncomfortable in that roll...but again, when you're an UDFA you have to be able to adapt to whatever roll they place you in...and quickly.

He went to a good spot where they were almost required to find a UDFA to fill out the WR slots on their roster. They didn't draft many and didn't bring back enough established vets. And kudos to him for working his butt off and becoming the guy that got to stick, and obviously he's shown something in practice or he wouldn't have been starting. They could have (and still could) cast him aside for a WR from any PS in the NFL if they wanted, and yet they see enough to hold onto him, that's a good thing.

But a UDFA can never fail to give 100% effort, and a WR can not drop the ball unless it comes with big plays. The NFL is no different than BG with regard to drops. They'd live with the occasional drops that we did if they came with the same big plays as we got at BG. Not uncommon at all for great WRs to lead the league in drops, guys like TO made a habit of it. But with those drops came big plays. If he cannot create the chunk plays at the NFL level he's going to need to be far more consistent than he was here at BG.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. Seems like every primetime game has a handful of MAC guys in the starting lineups and BG has almost none of those.

I did notice that on the INT where he stumbled/got tripped up, he also made the tackle 20-30 yards downfield. Good to see he got up and went after it rather than hang his head.
