Just a random football topic I thought I would throw on here to see how many others on here may or may not have known this. When you watch enough games in any sport, you're sure to come across a play where you see something that you've probably never seen before. I feel like this most often happens in baseball. A discussion came up the other day where I was talking about a 1-point safety in football and some guys were telling me there was no such thing. Well, prior to the 2013 Fiesta Bowl, I would have thought the same thing, but there is such a thing. Did any of you know there is a 1-point safety in football? Watch the video (link) below for the play and ruling:

Re: The 1-point safety in football
I have seen this 1 point safety ruling and remember watching the texas-texas am game live as it happened. What I have always wondered is- if a defense blocks a kick then on it's way to return it for 2pts, has the ball stripped out by the kicking team, then recovers in the field of play and in attempt to return it for a 2 point conversion retreats into their own endzone and tackled there, is that also a 1 point safety for the other team? If so that would mean the rarest possible final score to ever have in a game would be 6-1. Which I believe has never happened. Also 4-2 would be a very rare final which I believe has never happened either. I was thinking Iowa and Penn State played to a final of 6-4, back around 2004, which is still the strangest final score I've ever seen in college football.

Yes, I am aware of it but only because I was watching this game when it happened.
