MAC Championship Game

Post by gmartin »

According to Ford Field the lower bowl for the Championship game is nearly sold out. They actually opened up the 200 level club seats and upper bowl today and that wasn't in their plans. That sounds great.

According to message boards, Kalamazoo papers and MLive reports WMU sold 5,000 tickets Friday night alone after the Toledo game. The received another 5,000 allotment and those are sold out.

Could be a great crowd and that would be great.

Heard today from Ford Field 48,000.

No travel concerns. Not much construction on 75 right now. Decent travel weather coming from Athens and 'Zoo. I would love to see all 48,000 show. That will hopefully shown the bowl committee WMU travels well.

Kalamazoo is a tiny bit closer to Detroit than it is to Dallas...not sure you can draw any conclusions about bowl game travel from MACC numbers

Out of curiosity I looked on Stub Hub last night and they had mid-field upper deck tickets and corner seats for sale. Not sure why I came upon the link but I thought it was interesting to see what tickets were for sale with thoughts of all the empty seats I've seen in the past in the lower bowl. My initial thought was to question why anyone would be interested in resale tickets in these areas when there are always plenty of great seats available - apparently I was wrong.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

WMU athletic director said that WMU alone has sold 46,000 tickets to tonight's game. Think about that for a minute. WMU has sold 46,000 just by themselves alone. That doesn't include walk up sales, or tickets sold by Ohio University. WMU alone has sold more tickets for this game then BG sold for 3 home games.

First time ever the upper bowl will be open and that too will be pretty full. Can't wait to see what it looks like on tv.

We didn't sell 46,000 for all our home games...unless you count our corporate sponsors who buy a big chunk of tickets.

It's looking like a real possibility that there will be more in attendance for the MACC game than the Big Ten Championship game in Indy. They are practically giving the tickets away on the second hand markets.

Nice going WMU!

Not really....instead of making actual financial contributions to athletics, the sponsors buy football tickets at huge discounts. It's not just BG, but it's not really selling tickets.

It certainly helps Western Michigan to have a ton of graduates in the Detroit area and the fact that they haven't been to this game in 15 years.

This will be fun to watch.

People actually sitting in the end zone.

Estimated 50,000.

Just think it would have been Western vs BG. BG would have traveled better than Ohio.

Uniform question.....Are the OU Bobcats wearing blue and if so why??? Their helmets also look dark blue.

Not sure about those Western uniforms either....

Go Broncos!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I don't like the WMU gray uniforms/jerseys either.

I remember when BG wore gray uniforms in the MACC game. Didn't like those either.
