I have been to several BIG Ten schools to watch us play and was harassed more this weekend at OSU than Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan combined!! Another reason of 1000 reasons why I never was or will be a OSU fan and worship a NUT.

My experience in 2003 is what made me give up OSU entirely. Like most I was raised that if you were from Ohio you were supposed to worship that altar. Going to BG I became a Falcon fan first, but still rooted for OSU. Dealing with OSU fans as a fan of the opposition was the last straw...I don't want to be associated with that group anymore.

It bugs me when I see BG grads rooting for OSU, bugs me even more when they're actively rooting AGAINST their alma mater last year, but it's not worth getting worked up over anymore. The bottom line is college football (especially in the case of the big guys like OSU) has barely any real affiliation with the schools. A vast majority of college football fans don't see any connection between the team they root for and the school they attended. It's big business that dwarfs even the NFL in terms of insane dollars thrown around.

In the end it's not worth worrying about. The college football that is played by OSU, Alabama, etc, is nothing more than minor league NFL football. It has nothing to do with the school name on the jersey, and it's best to stop trying to equate it to what we play at BG.

Agree Hammb. But that big business trickles money into the school. It makes Alums feel a long lasting connection to the school and the community invest in the school. I think Football at BG is important or rather should be important for those things. I just don't know how you make it so that the students there now love it as much as I loved it. You have to find a way to forge a connection to the students and the community. BG football doesn't do that to a level that makes any difference.

Oh please...some of you get all worked up over this nonsense. Is your day to day life diminished in any way, shape or form by the amount of coverage and attention OSU gets? I can think of...I don't know...an almost infinite number of issues that can occupy my attention before that one

Well, then why do you keep posting on this thread about this issue? If others want to be upset about it, then that's their business to do so. Why not just let it go?

Not everyone has the same level of attachment to the program (or disdain for that other program). Some folks have different points of view for any number of different reasons, based on their individual experiences. To each his own. Your not upset about it, that's fine, you don't have to be. It's no one's place to tell someone else how they're supposed to feel about something. I know our society is steadily moving toward Orwell's 1984 vision, but I don't think we're quite all the way there yet. There's still room for dissent. People should be entitled to express their opinion without getting berated for it.

Its a discussion.... there's give and take because not everyone agrees on everything. You make it sound like someone is going to let a caged rat gnaw at your intestines if you don't root for OSU.

Yes! I use to get bent out of shape about everything with OSU too but it is pointless and only fuels the fire. Also if you think OSU fans are bad, you haven't seen anything until you live in Alabama a few years. At least OSU fans have pro sports teams to dull their interest in the off-season.

If Ken-Yon Rambo had showed up on the BGSU sideline wearing a Falcons T-shirt, raving in a 10 minute in-game interview about Mike Jinks while Bowling Green was beating Ohio State by 35+ points, I do believe Ohio State fans would be grumbling about that, much as Northeast Ohioans grumbled about this a few years back:



In my mind, the small time thinking around here is in rationalizing that what Bautista did is somehow okay. It wasn't. It was terrible.

Two things regarding OSU fans this year:
1) A friend who rode the fan bus down told me that two guys were dressed in OSU clothes. Good thing I wasn't on that bus....


2) Not one negative comment was said to us on our way into or out of the stadium. First time that has happened. Even had one OSU guy that gave us directions to the stadium, tell us that he was a Vet and his OSU group invited BG Vets down to join them in a pre-game tailgate, which I thought was pretty cool.

Other than the score, it was probably the most positive experience I ever had there. Not saying I want to go back again, because I don't. Hated the traffic and crowds, but that is me getting older and not wanting to put up with that any more.

Dieter with a TD catch today in the SEC Championship game.

This year hasn't been too productive for Dieter but he has 3 TDs in the past three weeks. Last year Dieter won a MAC Championship. This year SEC Championship and possibly a National Championship. Verne Lundquist did mention Bowling Green quite a bit when talking about Dieter.

Not much production, yes. But if you watch Alabama games he plays about 80% of offensive snaps. He is primarily used as a blocker in their offense. So he's a starter on an undefeated and potential national champion team. This is likely what he wanted verse staying here and having 1,000 yards.

I bet he would have gotten drafted had he stayed at BG. Very unlikely after transferring.

Of course he would have because putting up big numbers receiving has got so many BG players drafted.

They mentioned on the broadcast today that one of the reasons ghe transferred was to prove to the NFL that he could play special teams. Very SMART kid, if that is the case, and he is playing on almost all of the special teams at Bama in addition to the offense. Definitely increases his odds of being drafted.

Exactly. His draft stock will be good, his chances of staying on a roster better because of that decision to play special teams.
