Relax...I wasn't criticizing someone donating money to the rink. I do find it interesting that this is a big series and the crowd was that small.Flipper wrote:Getting snarky about someone donating money to the University is a dick move.,
Bergeron may be the guy who got the team out of the abyss...questioning if he's the guy to go beyond "meh"

Re: Tech
2,200 announced attendance??? Was hoping for more after seeing last night's crowd.
The team can't break out of the same old narrative....beat up on the bad teams, come up short against legit opponents. I still think we'll get home ice, but we won't get any higher than 3rd.

Went to the game last night. Bednard looked good, but gotta keep those long rebounds to a minimum (i.e. their 2nd goal). We won a lot more faceoffs than I've seen to date. Nice work. Powerplay looked good if 3-4 guys standing 40+ feet away from the net playing keepaway for 90 seconds before turning it over without a shot is considered good. Penalties were WAY down which is good.
Short answer: we skated well for 50 min with a team that's better than us, but still have to learn to play a full 60 min.
Oh, and the Tech contingent in the crowd was quite loud. Tech travels well.

We are 13 pts behind Michigan Tech with 2 games in hand. Win those 2 games in hand we still will be 7 pts behind Tech with 12 WCHA games left. From here on out we basically need to win 5 more games then Tech to catch them. Tech has 12 WCHA games left. If they go 6-6 then BG needs to go 11-3 to get to 2nd place. If Tech were to go 7-5, BG needs to go 12-2. Unfortunately I don't see that happening especially since we do not play Tech anymore this year.
BG has 8 of the 14 games at home. You would like to believe home ice matters however BG is 2-3-1 in last 6 home games.

Re: Tech
We've got 3 more weekends that mean anything vs Bemidji, @Mankato, @ Ferris...the rest of the opponents are literally bottom 15 teams in college hockey. Get ready for the playoffs and hope something clicks.
This team is under .500 with the 51st (out of 60) toughest schedule in the country. Embarrassing.
Why are we dressing 11 forwards? BG Hockey has the full 18 scholarships...they should be able to dress 4 full lines....is our forward depth that bad? Thought we were "loaded"...apparently not

It's to even things out from last season when there were only 5 defensemen dressing for games.apollo wrote: Why are we dressing 11 forwards? BG Hockey has the full 18 scholarships...they should be able to dress 4 full lines....is our forward depth that bad? Thought we were "loaded"...apparently not

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Tech
Dressing 12 forwards and rolling 4 lines, normally teams are fresher in the 3rd period. Looks like that's what happened this weekend in both games. Tech was the fresher team in the 3rd. Also as soon as BG scored first both nights Tech called a time out. Tech was the better team after the time outs and out played BG. That shouldn't happen two nights in a row at home.
