Two new JUCO transfers

Post by jpfalcon09 »

WR Datrin Guyton and CB Frederick Garth (party on Wayne!) have signed as transfers to the program.

Guyton was dismissed from Oregon State in 2015 for a violation of team rules.

Garth led his team in tackles this past season.

Sounds like a solid pair who can come in an contribute right away. Guyton was pretty highly rated coming out of high school. Let's hope these two can now actually get to BG and play unlike the ongoing Darrion Landry issue from last year that fizzled.

Guyton was the 11th ranked WR in that class per 24/7

Guyton is also 6'5"....that is tall for a WR or anyone else not named Joe Davidson. Sounds like both kids will be able to help right away. GO FALCONS.

Hopefully this version of Darrion Landry shows up :)...

Wow! And 6 foot 5?

James Morgan has got to be thrilled.

I think James Morgan, and the rest of the team including coaches, would be more skeptical than "thrilled" about this guy:

QUOTE -I saw the altercation that PROBABLY led to his dismissal from the team. He was pulled away from Isaac Seumalo in the 3rd quarter. Not sure what transpired, but it started from the field in the 3rd quarter. Another 3 and out, and coaches and players had to pull Guyton away. He sat on the bench and started yelling and screaming before a coach walked to Anderson and talked with him. Anderson pointed in Guyton's direction and the coach talked to him and led him toward the locker room.
Immediately, Guyton beelined to the O-line and screamed at Seumalo AGAIN. Coaches and players pulled him away and led him to the locker room where Guyton started yelling at the fans - not sure if fans were taunting him or what. But I got a great view of the whole thing from the stands. I had a suspicion at that moment he wouldn't be making the trip to California, and probably wouldn't be playing on the team anymore. I am sad that suspicion proved correct. UNQUOTE

In that same vein...New England should be keeping that Tom Brady kid at arm's length...

Arguments happen...did an 18 year-old kid over a 1000 miles from home maybe take it too far? Seems that way...but he kept his nose clean since, so I'm a little less sanguine in my view. Then again our history with JUCO and xfer WR's is a bit spotty. Greg Meehan...Kamar Jordan..Binky Cooper...Bautista..they were good. JeRon Stokes, Robbie Rhodes....et al...not so much.

The DB sounds like a player...and you really don't see a lot of people named Fred any more so that's kinda cool.

On that Patriots link...the blonde that pops up for the video thinks she's better than me. Sadly...she's probably right.

I can think of a lot worse things than getting in an altercation with a team mate. Happens rather frequently on a football team, and usually end up fine a day or two later. Hard to make a judgement without knowing ALL of the facts.

Agreed. In this day and age, I was expecting he was dismissed for a much bigger issue. If that was the reason why, it makes complete sense why his former coach still spoke highly of him and was willing to help him. I'm very happy he's coming to BG. We need a big target who can stretch the field and become a deep threat badly. I was hoping Phouthavong was going to be that guy but he all but vanished as the season wore on. He really struggled getting open, making catches and couldn't seem to use his size to his advantage whatsoever. And Moore was not an outside WR, I don't care what our coaches say. He was out of position and misused a lot and really had a bland season on all accounts based on how bad we needed help at WR and he was our lead "dog" coming in.
GO BG!!!
