BGSU vs Virginia Tech
BGSU vs Virginia Tech
Undefeated and 25th ranked Virginia Tech trailed the Falcons by two after the first quarter, but made some adjustments and opened up both barrels to blow out BGSU 98-51. Yes, the Hokies were bigger, better, and stronger. But the Falcons AGAIN were their own worst enemies, with numerous turnovers and pathetic shot selection. I can't even begin to count the over-the-shoulder wild shots we were tossing up toward the basket in the hopes that one of them would fall. The ladies all got playing time, but they all looked very fatigued. It makes me question the physical conditioning of this team, especially when we have played many teams well, even the good ones, during the first quarter, only to watch the wheels come off the rest of the game. Defense was non-existent, which was evident by the 98 points allowed. We couldn't hold onto the ball at all, as it looked like we had our hands in the buttered popcorn box before the game. It was embarrassing to watch. Do we have one player on this roster who can play with an ounce of resolve? Do we have any players capable of putting up All-MAC stats? I doubt it, especially when Coach Roos doesn't play her players much more than half the game, including the starters. I do not question this coaching staff's knowledge off the game, but I have serious reservations about their abilities to recruit, motivate, develop, teach, and coach their players. The results are speaking for themselves. My honest opinion........again.

Elmr,
I only watched the 4th qtr. but I saw an array of truly awful shots that the women launched, many of which never hit the rim. There were both air balls and nothing but glass on the 3 pointers while VaTech hit all net on shot after shot. I will say the score was probably inflated by the fact that VATech only plays 8 so two starters were always on the floor until the bitter end. Nevertheless, I truly believe that we are heading for a 20 loss season. The team will not beat S.D. this week, are 50/50 against Cleve State, and will of course win against Malone. Of the two FBS wins this year both teams we beat (Lafayette and St. Peters) have each won only once all year and have a combined 2-18 record. I'll stick to my comments from last season that we are not recruiting the right athletes for FBS play even in the MAC itself let alone against the power conferences.

2nd quarter on was brutal...I really like Coach Roos but man, things just aren't the same as they were under Coach Miller.

Mass exodus of assistants after a couple of down years was not a good sign. Will it be this year or next when the hammer drops?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: BGSU vs Virginia Tech
This is my theory....... Curt Miller recruited good players and implemented a good system. But he knew how to mesh his system with the type of players he recruited. I'm not saying Roos recruited bad players, but sometimes it's easier to develop a system that plays into a player's talents, than it is to conform the players to your own system and actually hinder some of the individual strengths of those players. There were two factions about Curt Miller that motivated his players...... stomping his foot and shouting "ATTACK!". Roos does not implement those parts of Curt's system. She has had plenty of time to put a good team together, but it's not happening. Also, you can't put together a great team without being fundamentally sound. Indeed, that we are NOT! We can't even do the little things well. It may well be time for the hammer to drop.
Re: BGSU vs Virginia Tech
My theory is pretty simple. We have recruited "good" players, but have not had the real "GO TO" player like a Lauren, Kate, Jackie, or Ali like we have had in the past! There are others too, but just an example.

Gee my crystal ball is wrong already we did not lose to South Dakota State on Sunday thanks to a nationwide snowstorm. Odd that departure was cancelled since Detroit only got 4 inches of snow Saturday. I'm not sure where the cancellation problem was; perhaps connecting out of Chicago. Still, the storm saved a loss similar to last year when BG was weathered out of two games in Texas. Guess we should consult Al Roker for future December schedules.fredthefalcon wrote:Elmr,
