This link gives us info about the whereabouts of Chris Hobson. After 8 games, he was averaging 26ppg for a community college. Since he's at a CC, I wonder about his reasons for leaving BG and whether he'll surface in D1 again.

Chris Hobon's departure.......?
Yes, why exactly did he leave? We all know why Lewis left , but I'm still in the dark as to why Hobson left. His defensive prowess has been missed sorley. If anyone has info on this that would great.

I don't know if I'll agree with the last sentiment. He had to agree to play in the system at some point, so there was a mutual attraction at some point. The JUCO route actually makes a lot of sense . . . Chris is able to play right away and display his talents, while working on others (shooting) and not lose a year of eligibility. He still has the option of transferring again if he would like and still can use a redshirt as well. Hobson would make a very attractive addition on a lot of teams in the Midwest right now.
For the record, he does indeed burn a year of eligiblity. If he transfers to a Div 1 school next year, he'll be an eligible junior. Although he could play right away. He could be redshirted too. He will only have 2 years of playing left with up to 3 years to burn them, but he will not be required to sit out a year.OptionQB wrote:. . . I think that's what he was getting at, meaning that he doesn't burn a year sitting out the year if he went to a D-1 school. He headed to JUCO where he could stay on the floor, work on his game, and even if a D1 school wanted him next year, they could have him out there right away. You explained it well, though.brewer wrote: For the record, he does indeed burn a year of eligiblity. If he transfers to a Div 1 school next year, he'll be an eligible junior. What?????
Hobson would've gotten plenty of playing time this year had he stayed. I don't get why he wouldv'e thought that he get more playing time leaving for another school.
His prowess was defense , meaning he was more likly to play over somebody like Austin Mongomery everybodies "favourite" player :-\ . Thats why it's so bizzare that he would leave too. I don't remember Dakich ever saying anything about Hobson having "issues" or whatever.

The fact that he surfaced at a CC suggests a lot about why he might have left. I'm suspecting that he was struggling academically and that he needed a CC to work on a few things (...and perhaps this is why he wasn't playing a lot and that DD said that "asthma" was the reason).
Personally, I'd love to see Chris Hobson return to BG next year.
Re: What?????
I don't know, but I don't think Dan usually shies away from telling the truth whenn a player needs to work harder in the classroom. He usually simply states that the player has some things they have to take care of in the classroom before they see more PT. I just don't think the two got along, for whatever reason.BleedOrange wrote:falconboy wrote:Hobson would've gotten plenty of playing time this year had he stayed. Wow, your negativity is disturbing. Many of your posts portray this attitude and that is unfortunate because these kids are having such a relatively good year.falconboy wrote:His prowess was defense , meaning he was more likly to play over somebody like Austin Mongomery everybodies "favourite" player :-\ .
For what it's worth, I believe Austin's quality of play is positively related to his level of self-confidence. But I digress......a different topic for perhaps a different thread.
Good luck to Chris on his journey through college hoops. Just because they don't mesh with DD's system certainly does not make them bad players, students, or people.

Disturbing? What disturbs me is hollow political-correctness posing as critical thought.
