Halftime. I'm afraid to look at the stats. Thompson is looking good. The usual starting guards, not so much. If I were the coach, I think I'd break tradition and start a different crew the 2nd half. BG trails 40-30.

2nd half wasn't much better. My how times have changed. 5 years ago I wouldn't miss a game. Would listen to the radio feed. Nowadays all I do is look at the stats.
Re: OU at BG
I think there are a LOT of us that won't be showing up quite as regularly to watch this!
Re: OU at BG
I said in a recent post that Lambert and Santoro need to step up and lead, as I believe both are better players than they are showing. I agree that Thompson is showing some signs of promise, especially in her ability to penetrate, but her shot needs to improve. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Cole, Cecil, Glowniak, and Uecker aren't getting more minutes, especially Cecil. Andrea is big, strong, can shoot, dribble, and doesn't lose her cool. She's young, but is, in my mind, the most well-rounder player on the team. I would try starting this group...... Lambert, Thompson, Cecil, Glowniak and Cole, with Eucker being the first post player off the bench. And, leave them in the game well long enough to get them into a flow. Perhaps that would light a fire under the rest of the players to either step it up, or continue to warm their chairs on the bench. There is no incentive to perform if players know they're going to get their minutes. What will it hurt? It's not going to be any worse, as our starters have been anemic in their productivity. I'm tired of seeing half of our three-point attempts missing everything but air, and seeing our starting post players struggling to finish a layup inside. You're not going to get a different result by doing the same ole crap, Coaches! Time to switch things up!

Elmer it is time for a change in the lineup but I would not go nearly as far as you did. I agree that it would be time for Cecil to get a lot more minutes than she has. She has, however, fouled a lot in the games she has been in. Nevertheless, you cannot bench both your top rebounders (Santoro and Siefker) as rebounding is about the only thing the team does do well. I would consider both Cecil and Thompson for a start. I do too have qualms about Thompson's shot. She kind of line drives it, especially noticeable at the FT line. She banked in a two pointer last game shooting straight away and I'm sure it was not planned. But her shot is not the only one that is missing as this team has few even average shooters. As you say air balls and all glass shots galore. The announcer at the OU game must have said "the shot barely grazed the rim" 3 or 4 times. Regardless, It is still time for some rotational changes
Re: OU at BG
fredthefalcon, if you've noticed, not only are Thompson's shots line drives, she has no jump shot... every shot is flat-footed. Why is it that it seems that no one from the staff has noticed this, nor has tried to correct it? Those are fundamental flaws that can be ironed out by the coaching staff. Outside of her shot, she looks to have great potential. It's called "improving on your players talents", which seems to be totally non-existent in the staff's abilities. I agree with your rebounding statement, but Cecil gets in no less foul trouble than Siefker. Also, I believe Cecil has far more upper body strength than Siefker. Our rebounding stats vs Ohio were silenced by the Bobcats' continuous conversions of the wide open layups we gave them all game long. We have all these bigs this year in the post positions, but none of them can defend the paint. Even Santoro was continuously burnt on drives to the bucket. Just another issue that we've not done anything about all season long.
Re: OU at BG
Completely agree with Cecil getting MORE playing time, and not necessarily at the 5 spot.
Re: OU at BG
She runs the break nearly as good as any of our guards.
Re: OU at BG
If we agree here that Andrea Cecil should get more minutes, and I mean LOTS more, (not a mere 4-5 minutes a game) then I'm pretty confident that a lot of other fans are seeing the same thing we are. Either the coaching staff is blind, or they're giving way to tenure or favoritism. You have to give the youth a fair chance to perform and make plays, unless, for some reason you don't want the rookies to outshine the veterans. And no one can convince me that it's because the upperclassmen have more experience! Experience at what?! Failure to make plays and showing the world all the ways to shoot yourself in the foot?! If Roos has any hope at all of turning this thing around, she must get tough and make a statement to players whose lack of toughness and desire are pulling the team through the mire! My opinion, of course....... ;-(

Swimming and diving and gymnastics seem to be on the verge of having excellent seasons
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
