This Past Weekend...

Post by Rollo83 »

...On Saturday, I watched one former Falcon wide receiver play in the College Football Playoffs as part of a team (Alabama) that will must likely repeat as National Champions. In addition to catching passes, he showed his blocking ability and his play on special teams to prospective scouts. He'll most likely get a look by an NFL team later this year.

On Sunday, I also watched another former Falcon wide receiver play for an NFL team (Giants) that just won 11 games this year and qualified for the playoffs. Playing sparingly at receiver, he had two touchdown catches this year but contributed heavily on special teams. He seems to have a future if he can continue to make the most of his opportunities.

I think we take for granted just how good those 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 BG teams were offensively.

They were good... but...whenever WR tandems are mentioned at BG I think of Heard and Thornton. The 89 team was 5-6, but they were both off the board in the 1990 NFL draft by pick 150.

Interesting. My first thought has always been with the Magner, Sanders, Sharon, Hawkins group as the best I've seen at BG. Maybe unit versus tandem is the way to look at it?

2015 Lewis, Dieter, Burbrink, Moore
2013 Moore, Joplin, Bayer, Beck, Gallon, Jackson
2002 Magner, Sanders, Sharon, Hawkins
1989 Thornton, Heard, Szlachic, Hockman
