"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

BG loses 2-1. Maintaining #3 seed going to be difficult.
Re: Bemidji
If we get swept here the boosters should demand answers and a public reprimand should be given to Bergeron. What an embarrassment of a season
Re: Bemidji
End of 2, BG leads 3-2. Shots showing 14-17, bad guys.
One of the best periods of hockey I've seen from this team this season.

4-2 Final! McLain with the ENG. Glad to see Spezia get back on the ice, hope he is all good.

So what's final score? Guess i just got it answered.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Re: Bemidji
It's disappointing there was no penalty assessed on that hit. The 5 minute major was for cross-checking Walker in the throat, after play was over.BGhockeyfan94 wrote:4-2 Final! McLain with the ENG. Glad to see Spezia get back on the ice, hope he is all good.

Re: Bemidji
Wow. What a game. The team finally played a full 60 minutes. And they were clearly the better team the entire game. Couple of dumb mistakes on the two goals we gave up in the first period but we showed a lot of resilience -- we could have easily folded while down 2 but we didn't. Bednard was a beast between the pipes -- he made a couple of highlight reel saves. The boys did a great job on the forecheck and kept solid pressure on Bemidji all night. While shots were pretty even, I'd say the majority of the game was played in Bemidji's end. Breakouts were clean, we headmanned (sp?) the puck very nicely. Couple of times they missed open guys, but still a great effort. Did a much better job putting a guy in the slot which lead to a lot more scoring chances.
Mark Friedman's dad was a few rows in front of us and was pulling his hair out during an early power play when we were doing that pass pass pass garbage we've seen all year. Then Mark throws one in the net on the next PP and he raises his arms towards heaven with a "See what happens when you shoot!!!!" pose. Classic. Powerplay was a lot better. Still too much passing, but we were much more aggressive with shots. All-in-all, we were really hard on the Beavers (OK, someone had to say it...).
THIS is the team that was picked to win it all. Sure hope they don't regress.

Yeah, nothing like an elbow to the head not being called. And then the ref just standing next to him and not blowing the whistle for what seemed like forever, even though he was clearly injured and not moving.pdt1081 wrote:It's disappointing there was no penalty assessed on that hit. Re: Bemidji
McLain actually took an elbow to the head, right before the hit on Spezia. Spezia took an elbow to the back, that turned him slightly. Head and arm hit the boards. He left to have his arm quickly looked at. I'm sure he was still in pain when he returned.BGhockeyfan94 wrote:Yeah, nothing like an elbow to the head not being called. What's proper with injured players is to allow play to continue until the injured player's team possesses the puck, much like a delayed penalty. Obviously there's a judgement call in there as to the severity of injury, and if play is coming towards the player. It's a needed rule to keep players from faking injuries behind play just to get a whistle. With the proper penalty call, it usually isn't an issue.
Of note, WCHA commish was in the building.
