I think so as well. Which is why I think we just need patience. Huger seems to prefer focusing on HS talent instead of bringing on a bunch of jucos, and there is just no quick turnaround if you're not going to bring in jucos.

I think huger has recruited fairly well. Now we need the talent to develop.

We can't win with Denny and Lillard playing as poorly as they have this season. If they're going to keep playing so poorly we need to give their minutes to other guys, to light a fire under em if nothing else.

And yet Huger will somehow find a way to comment about our lack of defense. We also need guys who can shoot and score, which are not one in the same in basketball.
And BINGO!!! He didn't let me down:

“It’s not selfish in a disrespectful way — it’s more selfish in that [players say] ‘I want to score’ more than ‘I want to play defense,’ ” Huger explained. “We have to get selfish on the defensive end and want to play defense....“We’re worried about offense, offense, offense and it should be defense, defense, defense,” Huger said. “If we don’t change our mind-set and understand how important defense is …”

I'm dumbfounded how he continues to ignore what we're all seeing from the offensive side of the ball as well. Our problems are not solely defensive related game after game after game. SMH
Yeah, I'm a bit perplexed by those sorts of comments after that game as well. We were not good on defense. But our defense was merely bad, while our offense was a complete and total embarrassment. We had a few short spurts of quality offense, but on the whole, it was just abysmal.
I'm with you man, and I left out the best part. This was his opening comment to his presser after the NIU game:

"Our defense has been failing us as of late. We gotta get better defensively as a team. We gotta be willing to help one another on the defensive end. Everything goes back to our defense and the way we play defense and how hard we play defense and that was the difference in the game."

WTH game was he watching??? Look, none of us knows his team better than him on this board, but to open up your presser with that comment after that game, I was simply baffled. I'm sorry, but he's wrong, our defense was not the difference in the game. It was our lack of offense. No the defense wasn't great, but the offense was putrid. It's as if Huger expects us to hold teams to under 40 points a game. It's beyond clear his focus is on defense, but come on man, to call out the defense after that offensive debacle, it makes him look ignorant to the fact or just flat out clueless. Hell, Orr would have at least given us a few shoulder shrugs in relation to that offensive pitfall.

The only thing I can think of is the fact that our defense needs to get more stops, initiate the break, for more fastpoints.

Essentially he's conceding the fact our half court offense sucks and we need our defense to turn into offense in order to score?

I dunno, I'm reaching.

I do know from what I watch at the games there is no rational reason to play Fox if he's not making threes. There is no reason not to play Caldwell. At least he did let frye take over minutes from Lillard, but needs to stay that way u til Lillard finds his game again.

Deciding not to add a big man, any big man when you had a scholarship available was a mistake.
