The Stroh Center Environment is HORRID!
Re: The Stroh Center Environment is HORRID!
Well this company, BGSU Athletics in this case, uses unpaid labor. Therefore, I expect more out of those who are paid. And paid very well. Ok, I think it's best for your anger, my anger, and everyone else if I just stop and go away. It's best for me to. Temperatures on the rise, and spring will be here before we know it. I'll look up at the 1968 banner on Saturday, like I do each time. I'll look at the seat that BG puts in place for a guy who generously donated millions to see BG basketball good again. I think he said he thought BG could be like Butler. Then I'll refocus and see all the reasons why BG can't do that. Many of which start in the area behind the benches up at the top. Go Falcons!

I’m not trying to be negative on purpose. Hell I hardly post anymore. This is just the only avenue I have to really talk about Falcon sports. And I’m not one of those Rah Rah people. I’m not an optimist that relies on the following years recruits and says how much better were going to be. I’m a realist. I look at something and make a judgement based on my knowledge of sports and people. And I can tell you that the football team is heading for some dark years. Jinks is completely over his head. He could bring in the second coming of Tim Tebow and it won’t matter because HE CAN’T COACH. It was a mistake to hire a guy two years removed from being a high school head coach. Had he sat in the college ranks for a few more years and actually been a coordinator, then maybe he could have become successful. Kingston got over zealous and thought he could find the next Urban Meyer. He whiffed. And bad. And Huger; his teams just don’t play with any fire. Without any passion. You could tell the fire and passion in Jan’s first game. You could see it in Dakich’s teams the first 4 years. You never saw it in Orr’s teams and you don’t see it in Huger’s teams. That’s why he won’t be successful. He’s just not a coach whom can get that fire and passion and attention to detail out of his teams. But just like 44 I’ll lay off also if it’s becoming too negative for some. Just give it 3 years and some (factman??) will remember this and say “Hey, CrazyFan wasn’t just so crazy after all!” But the more apathetic the teams become, the more and more fans we will keep losing. The attendance shows it, and this board shows it. Back 5-10 years ago there used to be people posting all the time. Now it seems like a deserted board with just a few main posters. Don’t know if that has anything to do with Grant selling it or not. But I attribute it to the state of our programs and the lack of interest people have.threestooges wrote:That's not what 44 was saying, though. Also -- and I know people think the money excuse is an excuse, BUT -- BGSU can't afford to get rid of a coach with four years left on his contract. They just can't.CrazyFan wrote:If their underperforming and not doing what you hired them to do, then yes. Jinks would have been surely fired in the corporate world with the results he had this past season. He took a MAC Championship team and finished with 4 WINS!! He got blown out and embarrassed MULTIPLE times! He makes $500,000!! He's a joke. He's a fraud. He's a scam artist. And he's robbing the university blind. Get rid of him! Corporate world would have without a second thought.threestooges wrote:So if the director or CEO at the place where you work leaves to take another job, everyone who he/she hired should immediately be shown the door?guest44 wrote:Well I'm glad he got to make a bunch of hires before he left........... and his hires get to stick around until they choose to leave. That's comforting that success is right around the corner. LOL
Look, I get it. I'm a BGSU fan, and all of our teams blow. It's frustrating. Kingston came in & tried to fix problems by spending money. Early in his tenure, he spent way more than he was authorized to spend, and Mazey & the University told him to stop. He hired a helluva coach in Jans, albeit a coach who had questionable character at best. The jury's still out on Huger. Last year, with the loss of Holmes & others from the previous year, was going to see the team take a step back no matter who was coaching. This year ... the last two losses have been very frustrating, but the week before that saw two great performances at Akron and Ball State. I think this team's going to be up and down for the rest of the year, and I definitely think Huger deserves at least one more year to show us all what he can do, and to give our program some freaking stability.
What is my overall point here? I have no GD idea. I'm frustrated that our teams are losing, and I'm also frustrated that the same 2 or 3 people get on here and complain about the same things all the damn time. Maybe I should take a break from this board, because I can manufacture my own anger or bitterness w/o reading a message board.

Coach K from Duke, with opinion in this thread, would have been fired at Army and Duke based on the records early in his career. By no means am I suggesting that Coach Huger is destined to be Coach K but at BG we must at least have the patience of Duke IMO. Our program is far from the financial and recruiting power that Duke was in the early 80's. Food for thought is all I'm presenting, not worth fighting about it.
