Not too hard to find out the disposition of the assault citations.....spoiler alert...charges dismissed

Hmmmm......ok......but where was the disposition of the assault citations for Jans before he was fired......oh.....that's right.......he was never even charged with a crime! Spoiler Alert..........double standard!Flipper wrote:Not too hard to find out the disposition of the assault citations.....spoiler alert...charges dismissed

CrazyFan- It's all about the video. Plus those assistants hadn't been at BG long enough to be seen in public doing things concerning, where the, department had time to reprimand and or change prior to the arrest or video. These decisions are generally based on protection of jobs for the higher ups.
Re: Spring game info?
When it comes to off the field misbehavior in the sports world and the ensuing consequences (or lack of), the double standard has always been whether or not there is video of it.

Re: Spring game info?
Jans was caught on video grabbing a female on her butt without her invitation or consent...he was then involved in a drunken argument that was also recorded. None of those "facts" are in dispute. For all I know there were other documented instances of misbehavior... Maybe there wasn't Contractually... I would assume that was enough to terminate his employment with cause. Whether he was charged with anything or not. I have no idewa if he contested the notion that he was terminated with cause or not...for all I know he did and the University cut him a check.
So far as White goes..yep he was cited for assault. He was placed on ad!instrative leave while the matter was investigated. He plead not guilty to that charge and the case was dismissed. I think he's a contract employee of the University and as such he has some protection against being terminated...if you want to fire him you can...unless you can show cause to fire him you're going to have to pay him.
While I agree that throwing hands in a bar is a bad idea in general....the facts surrounding the incident were in dispute...the charge was dismissed....I'm inclined to agree with letting him stay with the understanding that he doesn't close the bars anymore...and if he does he skedaddles when they tell him to go

Again, these decisions are all made on self protection. The incident is looked at. All involved take the the road to least push back, then get back to work on finding the next job.
I think the Memphis game alone would be considered just cause on any of the defensive staff.

Flip: Serious question that I truly don’t know the answer too: How do you know that the female whose butt he grabbed didn’t give him an invitation or consent? She didn’t act repulsed or act in any way that it was unwanted in the video. She also never filed a police report against him for harassment or assault. He apparently knew her and she wasn’t just a random bar fly. So if it wasn’t unwanted he simply grabbed a girls butt in a bar that he was flirting with. His only moral crime is that he was married. Far from a fireable offense. As far as the argument that ensued; as I’ve said before, you, me or any other reasonable person would be very mad and argumentative if someone random walked up to us and informed us that they have been secretly recording us for the past 10 minutes, especially if that was a little 18 year old brat that was lecturing us on what she thought was how we should be acting. It needed to be taken into context. Instead Kingston caved to the 3am drunken email and blackmail by the rat Tiller family.Flipper wrote:Jans was caught on video grabbing a female on her butt without her invitation or consent...he was then involved in a drunken argument that was also recorded. So my view is Jan’s incident was CERTAINLY not fireable AS LONG AS his advances were wanted or accepted. Suspendable; yes, especially when this would have been the first suspension. Compare that to coaches who physically assaulted a bouncer that, just because some rat family with an egotistical daughter wasn’t there to pull out their cell phones and get it on video, they get to keep their jobs after the department bones the bouncer some season tickets and some Fricker’s to drop the charges. It screams double standards to me.
Re: Spring game info?
Hell suspend him until the dad sobers up, and reconsiders his threat to send a cell video to TMZ? or something crazy. That email itself is as bad as the video. I mean Joe Tiller is his uncle, therefore the threat becomes more real, but I mean clearly that thing got blown out of proportion. But, his first instinct was obtain the video, get control of situation, and save his job. 11 months after he hired him.

Why are we talking about basketball in a football form. In a basketball form we talk about football. Heck we may talk about cross-country or golf in the hockey forum

Re: Spring game info?
Crazyfan...re the consent issue...I'm assuming she didn't consent to it because it didn't look like that was the case and at no point did anyone raise that as a defense. The fact that she didn't file charges isn't really relevant...the conduct speaks for itself...it's there on video.
When you are in a public place..you should have no expectation of privacy..you can be photographed or filmed w/o your consent. That includes a bar...restroom at a bar? different story.
So far as the Tiller's go...they're irrelvant to the conversation. You can call them jerks all day...you can question their motives all day. None of that matters.
Contextually...I don't know how many instances of public misbehavior by Jans Kingston was aware of...was this the first or the 15th? Who knows? That may have...or concern that others may come forward..might have been a factor. How big a snowball do you want to make before it hits you in the face? And yeah...Kingston may have become acutely aware he hired a guy with severe issues (apparently most of the team wanted out) and he may have wanted that mistake to go away with as little fanfare as possible...and without lot of questions re his hiring.
You said the football coaches assaulted bar employees...thier response would and should be as follows. "Nuh-Uh".
They contested the account of the bar employees from day one...they both plead not guilty and they both had their charges dismissed. They didn't assault anyone

I would say the bouncer with the broken nose would beg to differ! They didn't assault anyone
The fact is one person was fired for an offense that didn't involve the police at all and the others were able to keep their job even after having stood in front of a judge. If Jans was warned previously and still choose to act that when, then cool fire him. But all the AD had to say was "we talked with him previous and gave him a zero tolerance policy, he broke it" . When this becomes cloak and dagger affairs it gives ammo for us message board people to speculate.

Maybe we can get Jackie Evancho to sing at our spring game.
Re: Spring game info?
I think BG should start some type of tradition. Let's always host our spring game the day before Easter. Then after the spring game we can have an Easter egg hunt on the field with all the kids. Anybody up for this idea. We would at least know what day the spring game is every year.
