BiG win! Gutsy once again. We did get the home call on the foul on Algecaire, but team came to play and made the plays (last 1:30 front end misses non-withstanding). Well done men!

Stats show Johnson with 2 fouls.
I missed #2. His first came at about 10 seconds in the game

Wasn't #2 the call with 2.2 seconds left to win it?

Great game, great win. Frye & Denny were fantastic. And we played great defense on Johnson all night long. Their shooters were not up to their usual selves but we did contest fairly well; they missed some they usually hit too.

I thought the last play looked like a block. Clearly contact and I thought he was still backpedaling into position; he was borderline in the restricted area too. Either way, great play by Wes to force the issue in transition.

We killed them in transition, which was huge for us. Part of that was forcing so many steals, our guys (especially Denny) were anticipating and jumping passing lanes all night long.

Man it's nice to finally beat that team!

What a game. Last play wasn't even maybe a block but he wasn't straight up, up top, he came down on him.

When Denny and Frye are both on it's a joy to watch. It would be awesome to get another year out of Denny. Wow.

As far as some stats that you didn't mention.

I did the over under and Ali was +11 and Caldwell was -10. I agree that Caldwell is the better player but that's pretty drastic. sst

It is so frustrating how much potential this team has. They have pulled some gutsy wins this year. And then other times they come out flat. When they build some consistency, these young players will build a core of a great team

I am excited about the direction of the program. It seems Huger is changing the culture of the program which hopefully will result in more big wins.

So happy to see this streak over! I swear if we get that kind of effort from here on, we will be the team nobody wants to face in the tournament.

I was wondering about that +/- because Caldwell definitely didn't have his head in the game last night. His shot was off and defense was lacking...

But he wasn't a liability in any way. Which you can't say for Ali when he is off. It's an interesting problem to have. Remember the last time we had 2 ok point guards. I don't.

I'd say the PG combo of Antonio Daniels and DeMar Moore was more than just "ok." Moore was good enough to have started if not for Daniels and Daniels was good enough to play in the NBA for over a decade.

I just watched Huger's presser after the game and simply put, he was blown away by the length of the losing streak to Akron. He had no idea it had reach 17 games and was simply baffled after being told so. At first I thought he was serving up a little coach speak, but he repeatedly went back to length of the losing streak and you could tell it was 100% honest. Yeah coach, it was really THAT long! Just watch the first two minutes of it. But it also makes me wonder, how in the world was he unaware of this? He states in his presser that he doesn't read into this sort of stuff, but how has not one person (reporter, SID, assistant coach, AD, donor, alum) in his tenure here ever made him aware how long it had been? That's baffling to me. He's actually coached against Akron several times as well before tonight and it's unreal to me that this was news to him.

Just an awesome effort...we are inconsistent due to a few reasons but the team is learning what it takes to win consistently in this league. It is a tough league.

It's like a no-hitter. Don't talk about it while it's happening.

Hmmmmmmm another classic. Dambrot is 25-1 against BG. How many classics can you have when you have beaten Akron ONCE in last 26 attempts.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't there been numerous close games with several last second buzzer beaters recently? Granted Akron won them all, but they were still games that could be called classics I suppose.

There's like a million "classic" rock stations in the area....I'm sorry...there's nothing classic about Foghat. I think by now the term "classic" has been rendered meaningless :)
