Re: Career Watch: Coach Roos
The fact that Kent State under the direction of a new coach is tied for first with Ohio after being at the bottom of the standings last year assures me action needs to be taken. I believe the Kent State Roster didn't even change much as no big studs were brought in. It starts with the coaching. I am not sure how the players can be confident when the staff is not confident of themselves. The ship is sinking fast time for a new captain.

Here's your update....The 8-22 (she will lose another one to end the season) leaves her record at 27-61 in 3 years, and 81-77 overall. a .500 coach at 81-79 with stellar losses to the likes of 1-17 Eastern Michigan and whoever she lost to (Ashland, Davidson, both?) .
Whatever. Come August, I'll take a hard look at what I want to do about next year's season tickets.

Hoping for a coaching change.

27-61 in 3 years. UGH. True the one year we lost, what, 4 starters to season ending injuries? Still...

If you are going to blame injuries for one of the bad seasons then you must also acknowledge her 30 win season was with Curt Miller's players. Take away that season and her record really sucksFalconfreak90 wrote:27-61 in 3 years. UGH. True the one year we lost, what, 4 starters to season ending injuries? Still...

Not saying I blame the injuries Gmartin but 4 starters going down in one game for the season is the freakiest thing I've ever seen. We literally had nobody off the bench. And there is no doubt she won with Curt's players.

Everyone points to the "injury season" as being some horrific low point. Nope..that team won nine games. This team won eight and lost to Malone. This season...is...the...horrific...low point.
Time to move on...

And of our 8 wins 2 were against non D1 teams.Flipper wrote:Everyone points to the "injury season" as being some horrific low point. Nope..that team won nine games. This team won eight and lost to Malone. This season...is...the...horrific...low point.

I'll gladly redistribute $$, $$$ of my donations and allocate them to this cause. I was told I can't list my yearly amount anymore. But it will cover about 1/5.

THERE IT IS.
BG's not in the business of buying out coaches having to essentially pay two at one time. Let's hope it turns around.

Re: Career Watch: Coach Roos
Maybe not buy her out, but fire all the assistants, demote her to Associate coach and hire a new head coach. Probably would cost about $200K

Re: Career Watch: Coach Roos
HoopsFan, your idea would likely be the cheapest way to go, with the demotion, as long as there are no clauses in her contract that assures her of the head coaching position. If that stipulation doesn't exist, then the AD can call his own shots. At that point, if Coach Roos doesn't like that idea, she can either take her lumps or resign. The sooner this can be dealt with, the better.

Re: Career Watch: Coach Roos
Pretty sure the contract language would specify the position as well as salary.
Is this going to play out like Dakich and Orr... you don't want them but you can't fire them so you just let the contract run out? Good luck with recruiting that last year...probably this year too as it's obvious you're a lame duck. (assuming a miracle doesn't occur and they win 20 next year...)

Just saw that Miami University fired both their men and women's basketball coaches. The woman's coach was in the 4th year of the contract AND had a better record than us. Come on BG - pull the trigger! ](/img/ayziggyzoomba/58/58/54314911ff35ed959956620e68458f73.gif)
