Pretty sure we're supposed to have a home and home with Mich State, and will be in the GLI over the holidays

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
OSU should be in there somewhere. We have an ongoing agreement to play them every year. WMU also.
Re: 2017-18 Schedule
Anastos is gone at MSU now though. That was a deal Berg and him were working on. Anastos understood the BG-MSU rivalry of the 80's and wanted to get the teams back on the ice together post CCHA.Pretty sure we're supposed to have a home and home with Mich State
The new MSU coach, whomever that may end up being, might not have any real interest in doing a home and home with us.

Hoping the new MSU coach is someone other than Berge. Lots of rumors flying around the Sparty message boards.AZIce wrote:Anastos is gone at MSU now though. Fan forums are fan forums for a reasons.
Top two names for the MSU opening are Gwoz and Danton Cole. I would expect them to go hard after D.C.

If DC gets it (and I hope he does), we will probably still play them. And Bergeron isn't going anywhere.BGDrew wrote:Fan forums are fan forums for a reasons.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

The Egg Suckers aren't exactly in a position to be canceling non-conference games.AZIce wrote:Anastos is gone at MSU now though. That was a deal Berg and him were working on. We yelled "Self Effers" at the time though it wasn't university approved.pdt1081 wrote:The Egg Suckers aren't exactly in a position to be canceling non-conference games.AZIce wrote:Anastos is gone at MSU now though. Glad to hear there isn't anything to worry about at the top. Though I've talked to Berge in the past and he says BG is back to being a destination school, money seems to always talk.
It's also interesting to read how some Miami Staters attribute Enrico Palazzo's success to Berge. I guess 11 freshmen will do that to a fan base.

Other than Miami, I think it'll take a whole lot of money to lure Bergeron out of BG before his kids graduate high school.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote:We yelled "Self Effers" at the time though it wasn't university approved.pdt1081 wrote:The Egg Suckers aren't exactly in a position to be canceling non-conference games.AZIce wrote:Anastos is gone at MSU now though. These non-league games will make or break our season every year until the league get stronger as a whole outside of winning the conference tournament. There is a link on one of the college hockey websites where you can go back and change results to game to see your pairwise ranking. I played around with this a tad and we could have gone 30 - 11 and still been outside the top 16 in the pairwise not changing any non-league game results. Changing a few non-league game results we could have cracked the top 16 pairwise with only 25 wins.

Wasn't the league much stronger a year or two ago?unfalconbelievable wrote:These non-league games will make or break our season every year until the league get stronger as a whole outside of winning the conference tournament.
I'm not ready to assume that the WCHA will never receive at-large bids given how close Bowling Green came to getting one a year or two back. Maybe I'm overly optimistic.
Re: 2017-18 Schedule
I'm not assuming that either. At the very least in the last few years the league has been close (BGs .003 or whatever miss for example). This year was definitely a down year for the league. it kinda reminds me of all the talk for years about how big 10 football wasn't going to be competitive nationally anymore. Don't hear that anymore.Schadenfreude wrote:Wasn't the league much stronger a year or two ago?unfalconbelievable wrote:These non-league games will make or break our season every year until the league get stronger as a whole outside of winning the conference tournament.
