The key to an at-large NCAA bid (at least for us and our WCHA brethren) is the non-conference schedule.
We'd be better off going .500 vs big10 and Nacho opponents than sweeping a non-conf schedule against teams out of the Atlantic.
I LIKE the way our NC schedule is looking.

The issue for BG is that WCHA teams aren't going to be able to win many recruiting battles with teams outside of Atlantic Hockey. Where it shows up is goal scoring and skill players. BG ends up with a bunch of 3rd and 4th line forwards that can't score enough against above average defenses and goaltenders.

Moving forward is only going to get tougher. The WCHA and Atlantic Hockey are the MAC and Conference USA of College hockey.

Any truth to the rumor that Hills is in the running at Niagara? Yes, I know, I know...quit reading the message boards. But there's nothing else to do at this point in the season except rumormonger...

Here's the proof: NHL scouting central ranks the top draft-eligible players that are enrolled or committed to NCAA. That list includes 82 skaters and goalies, here is the conference breakdown:

Hockey East- 32
NCHC- 20
Big10- 16
ECAC- 10
WCHA- 2 (1 each from MTU and NMU)
AHA- 1
Ind- 1

It doesn't appear Hills made the final cut at Niagara. http://buffalonews.com/2017/04/12/repor ... ey-program" target="_blank

If I'm not mistaken Canisius should be on the schedule this year to finish up a home-and-home. My guess is it'll be the Winterfest game.

Is BG doing the double to Alaska?

28 league games
H/H with MSU (confirmed)
2 Home with Miami (confirmed)
2@ GLI (confirmed)
That's 34 total.
Only leaves room for 2 more, and with supposed recurring agreements with both OSU and Western, doesn't leave room for an Atlantic series.

Isn't the GLI exempt from the total game limit?

No. I think the Icebreaker tournament is the only one that is exempt.

Buccigross is reporting Mel Pearson has agreed to take over at Michigan. I haven't seen it reported anywhere else, though.

When are we likely to have or schedule announced? It seems like that should be dropping within the next month or so. I'm very anxious and excited for the season to get back going. A month and a half is enough offseason for me!

Should be in the next few weeks after the coaches convention (this week).
