Speaking of Louis Orr, he's going from selling cars in BG to joining Patrick Ewing at Georgetown.

I saw that online yesterday and forgot to mention it!! Good for him...not a good HC by any stretch, but he's a calm experienced voice. Not sure how that evangelical bend his personality has will play at another Catholic institution, but...I wish him well.

Globe,
I hope you are right. However, Huger CHOSE to use football players by suspending 4 guys. Sadly, it might have been the noticeable part of the entire season. Also sadly, he got praised for that sideshow. Once again, I think you are downplaying the 3 players who left. They took alot of the shots in close games for a reason, because they were better than the other options available..

Guest44,
You are complaining about a coach with discipline. I will praise him for sticking to his rules. That will help the team next year and down the road. As for the players that left, how many close games did Rasheed and Malik play at the end of the game. You, like some others, just have to find fault with everything. Coach Huger took over a team that wasn't going to be a quick fix. I like the direction the program is headed in.

Hockey John,
I'm not talking about those guys. Neither fit at all with what Huger wants to do. It's better for all that they left. I'm talking about the seniors, all who played alot, all who mattered, all who people are acting like losing won't matter because the team is filled with so much talent. Great, BG played football players, were embarrassed by 20 or 30 some, in a pivotal point in the season. How about we praise the coach for not having players get suspended multiple times. I thought low point was the discussion of how losing Maybelen was what caused the poor season. Then I saw how people wanted to keep the football players around. As far as the direction. You can't go down from a 12th place finish. 10th is better than 12th. However, seeing Lillard become a top tier MAC player would have been more for the direction of the program, than seeing him parked on the bench for 20 minutes a night.
As far as finding fault. BG basketball has found plenty of fault on it's own the past 15 years. Awful hires, awful extensions, awful rehires, awful recruiting. If you haven't found any fault in this product, than you must love losing.

I don't think anyone attributed the poor season directly to Mayleben leaving...but there's no question a lack of bigs really hampered us a the season wore on. You don't have to be particularly talented to clog the middle. Slide across the lane with your hands in the air on D and stand up there by the free throw line on either side of the key and set picks. Pretty much anyone could do that.
Keeping the football players around would have been nice... Folkertsma did what the coach told him to...roll to the basket. He did that and he scored more points than Worrell usually would. Worrell had some talent...but I don't thin he liked contact. I think Worrell wants bigs who aren't shy
So far as the last 15 years go..current AD has been here a year...HC is going into his third season. I don't think they care about the years before that...nor should they. I barely care and I was here for them.
Gotta stay "in the now"...

Agree. Mayleben wasnt great but he would have given us a guy who was decent enough so we don't have to play Fox at PF.

I like the direction we're heading...Huger has only been on the job for 2 years. He is bringing in better recruits and building the right way. Considering what Orr did to this program, it's gonna take time.

Well, looks like Jans is gonna be a head coach again. Per Jeff Goodman, he has agreed to a 4 year deal to become New Mexico State's new head coach. Seems like a great situation for him, as they have had much success recently. Could be a nice stepping stone to a power conference job in the future. Wish him the best of luck, and even though most disagree, I think we made a mistake by firing him.

Oh, so a NCAA Tournament qualifier 6 of the last 8 years was willing to hire him. I guess that makes sense.

I believe in second chances. I'm glad Jans seems to be getting his career back together, even if it couldn't be here. (And it couldn't be here.)
I wish him well.

No...it couldn't be here...it took two years for things to calm down enough for him to land another HC gig. I wish him well...

Jans was wrong and has paid his price and is square with the house in my opinion.
He needed to leave but I'd be willing to bet he has New Mexico State in the NCAA Tournament before we get there. I hope I'm wrong, but he's a great basketball coach and I'm 'hoping' we're headed in the right direction.

Half his team wanted to transfer out and he got drunk and grabbed a students butt.
