Re: 2017-18 Schedule
Out of conference schedule is pretty much settled. Miami here twice, home and home with OSU & MSU, GLI, and either one game against WMU and home/Toledo vs. Canisius or a home and home with WMU.
The rumored release date for the WCHA Composite Schedule is May 1st.

What happened to the Michigan State October home and home?? Thought others her said that was a done deal...............
Also don't Winterfest and GLI happen at the same time? Not seeing how we can play the GLI and host a team at Winterfest in Toledo.
Re: 2017-18 Schedule
Whoops, forgot about Sparty. We're playing a home and home with them as well. Edited my original post.
My understanding is we'll play in the Winterfest games each year. If they fall on the same dates as the GLI this upcoming season that changes things and we'll probably not play in Toledo.
Another outdoor game should be coming up as I heard the plan was for an outdoor game anytime the sod at Fifth Third Field is getting replaced.

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
Is it common that we have this many non-conference opponents? WMU (x2), Canisius, OSU (x2), Sparty (x2), Miami (x2) and the GLI, all in one year? That seems like a ton.BGDrew wrote:Whoops, forgot about Sparty. We're playing a home and home with them as well. Edited my original post.

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
It's possible the WMU or OSU series will be skipped this year.
We should find out soon enough.

If OSU end up on the schedule, that will make 5, with a chance of 6, games against the big...... May as well become a memberBGDrew wrote:It's possible the WMU or OSU series will be skipped this year.

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
A running joke among the Bleacher Creatures this season was that we would get Miami and Western to leave the NCHC, and we would all join the Big Ten, and it would become "The Big MAC, sponsored by McDonalds."pdt1081 wrote:If OSU end up on the schedule, that will make 5, with a chance of 6, games against the big...... We have a lot of time on our hands between setting newspapers in the student section and puck drop.

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
In looking at the 2017-18 schedules thread on the USCHO forum it would appear that the OSU series would most likely be October 20-21 as they already have known games on Oct 6-7 and we play MSU on Oct 13-14.
WMU looks to be the likely first series of the year as both us and them have October 6-7 open.
Or I guess it could be a WCHA series like it was last year with BSU........like you said guess we will see soon enough.

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
The reason we opened with a conference game last year was because the change in the playoff format came late in the scheduling process, and us and/or Bemidji wanted the series moved from whatever the original date was so it wouldn't conflict with a non-conference game. Ferris State and UAH even played each other over the weekend of exhibition games because of it.AZIce wrote:Or I guess it could be a WCHA series like it was last year with BSU........like you said guess we will see soon enough.

A small update to this:mbenecke wrote:According to the WCHA's official twitter, the schedule will be released at some point this week. Get excited, Falcon fans!
At 5:31pm EST, the WCHA Men's Hockey twitter page tweeted out that the composite schedule for the 2017-2018 season will be released on Thursday, May 4 at 2:00pm EST.
I plan to create a post for this when it is announced (unless someone beats me to it/would rather do it/I don't end up getting around to it).
I'm very excited to get the discussion going for next season!

Re: 2017-18 Schedule
No Ohio State........that's disappointing. I guess no Ohio Cup this year.....if they even do that anymore.
