I stand corrected on this one. Maybe all the bitching I'm doing is bringing more light to the subject of getting these issues better reporting. But I'm glad to see the details come out. Now we can have the discussion of Jinks' lack of control on his program! I'm sure not much will happen to them. Hell, we had two coaches sucker punch a bouncer and their still on the team. All about setting examples. But I'll quit bitching, for now.

I'm not sticking up for anyone but this could have been an honest mistake. Superbowl weekend I went out to Las Vegas. At the Wynn casino I hit a jackpot for $4740.00. I came back to Indianapolis and went out to dinner a few days later and I was accused of passing a fake $100 bill. Out of 47 $100 bills, 4 were fake. Who is to say that the bank gave these two players fake bills. I know, highly u likely, but lets wait until all facts come out.

Your inability to recognize sarcasm coupled with your inability to resist responding to your buttons being pushed make you and a few others prime targets for Flipper. It makes this board so much more interesting to read when Flipper is matching wits with the unarmed.

How would they know the bills were fake?

I suspect the Bowling Green police had not yet completed their incident report. Once they did, it became a public record and the media had more information to work with.

I'm never going to agree with crazyfan or guest on the Jans thing..never...and that's fine. I do think they have a gripe on the assistant coaches striking a bouncer issue. Yes..as I have taken great pains to point out..the charges were dropped...but what were the circumstances behind that? Did the facts support the coaches assertion that they were man handled? Did the court drop the charges as part of some kind of diversion program. Did all parties shake hands and agree to forget about it? If those guys worked for a private company, I'd say it's none of my business...they don't. They work for my alma mater ...I think we have a right to know why they're still here when they did something that warrants immediate dismissal.

Football is a resource hog...given the $$$ that get devoted to it and the source of those $$$ (a huge chunk being student fees) I think the coach should be more open about issues that affect the community.

I looked that up earlier and noted that the charges were dropped...restating that the charges were dropped doesn't really clarify the issue...some discussion of why they're still here would have been helpful. I'm not even saying they should have been fired outright...just provide an explanation beyond "well..the charges were dropped"

Here's what should of happened; Jinks should have sat each of those coaches down and asked them 1 question: "Did you punch the bouncer?" If their answer was yes (and we all know damn well the answer was yes), they should have been terminated immediately. You are trying to run an NCAA football program and as coaches you have a responsibility to set an example for your players. If one of the leaders of your program goes out and punches someone else and nothing happens to them, what example is that supposed to set for the players? That they can go out and punch someone at the bar and then they might have to run a couple laps at practice? We have enough damn problems keeping players out of the blotters already. Jinks totally screwed that situation up. Hopefully he'll learn from it.

And before you all call me a hypocrite, to me the Jans situation was totally different. These coaches physically abused someone else. Jans patted a girl on the butt that he was friends with and had been hanging out with all night with and previous nights. Most of you still don't think it's right, but it's not a fireable offense to me. But we've already argued the crap out of that.

I would guess some money changed hands in exchange for an agreement with the person or persons on the receiving end to ask that charges be dropped. If that's what happened, it's no surprise we didn't hear anything about it. There is usually a confidentiality agreement with those sort of deals. Not saying that was a proper resolution, just that it's probably what happened.

Marcus White was demoted from Co-DC to line coach. Kenneth Williams also had a job title change but I don't know if that signaled a demotion or not. Clearly, there was an internal discipline that took place though it is debatable whether that was enough or how that was relayed as a "message to the team". I don't think we ever got a public statement from Coach Jinks or AD Kingston about exactly how they were disciplined but, based on the demotions I would guess there was backroom discipline that they didn't care for the public to know.

Williams went from being a grad assistant to a contract coach.

I'm not advocating a cut and tried "hang em both no matter what" approach....but...keeping things in the back room is something I don't think we should be doing either. I think this case called for some further explanation than what we had...which was bupkis

As a father it was tough to see the article and follow the blogs and not be able to say anything, but I knew the eventual outcome, DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE. My son requested a Polygraph but it became unnecessary after detectives reviewed the video and he CLEARY did not pass any counterfeit money. In fact,he didn't pass any money to any employee. He didn't even come with this group but did ride home with them.

Thank you for your post, FalconPatriarch. When someone is cleared of wrong doing, that often doesn't get as much attention as the original allegation. That's a really tough thing to have to go through.
