Old AD in hot water

Post by BillyLP »

Krebs is deservedly getting a good amount of bad press after it came out he went on a pretty lavish trip on public dime. It doesn't look like anything will come of it, but still. Pretty shady stuff.

Also, quick note: I know this doesn't really apply to football, but was undecided on what category it would belong to.

Still cheaper than Harbaugh and Michigan going to Rome. Krebs may have been recruiting a player just like Michigan was holding practices.

Harbaugh could wipe his rear with $20 bills and UM would still be coming out ahead on him. He's been a money magnet for the University

New Mexico release confirms Paul is retiring. I am sure it is a move to clear the air and refocus on the department. It's too bad, I like Paul.

Read a story saying he was planning to retire even before this came out. Not sure if that's true or not? Regardless, BG was lucky to have him. We've really struggled to find someone of his competence to run the department.

The guy who ran the department so well that he had to cut something like 7 sports? Yeah, let's look for a guy like that.

Krebs ignorance of the hockey program during his tenure almost killed the sport at BG.

But hey, congrats to him on retiring with an ethical black eye.

You guys think we have budget issues now? Keep the sports he cut and see the size of the hole we would be in. Paul did what was necessary. That was not easy. I am curious who is to blame for hockey? First it was Cartwright, then Christopher, now Krebs. Talk about your moving target.

Under Krebs the hockey budget stalled, the arena was allowed to deteriorate, and thanks to this story we can see what his character has been.

We threw all our eggs into the football program and it's hard to see any major accomplishments that came from that.

This is false. Christopher was the one who put the money in the football team.

Plus, Krebs didn't have control of the ice arena, the other side of campus did. Any lack on renovations can be placed on their shoulders.

Personally I wouldn't put any extra money in hockey until they A. Get into an NCAA tournament or B. Are invited into a relevant conference. Program has done very little in the last 25 years, which is really surprising considering mid majors compete nationally in that sport.

Not just mid-majors, but plenty of DII/DIII type schools.

That's what I meant. Mid majors in college hockey are mostly D2 schools. D3 schools don't give out athletic scholarships.

Yes, don't put any money into a program that was ignored for 25 years, and the profits it brought in in the previous 20 years were siphoned and directed elsewhere. I really don't think you want to open those old wounds. It won't be pretty.
