Yeah, it's funny. There was a time where I was considered the Negative Nelly on this group. Nowadays I'm probably one of the more positive. And the bitching I do find myself doing is on stuff I wish I wasn't: (i.e. the future of BG football/athletics in general from a budgetary standpoint). But yeah, Justin was a big one. He's still a top 10 poster on this site and hasn't visited in years? BleedingOrange is another; I miss that dude, haven't seen him in years (online or real life). Grant sold the site and barely even logs in. Falconboy was never the most popular poster on here, but he's been gone for years as well.
And to my point...these guys haven't just disappeared for years. They've disappeared for years and are still in the top 20 posters of this site.
It's a dying medium, period. That is really pretty much inarguable, IMO. Young people don't partake in message boards. IF for no other reason than the fact that the medium isn't as mobile friendly as other forms of social media are. And for whatever reason we haven't even held onto our core group of posters. I still come here mostly out of habit, but don't post nearly as much.
I think football just exemplifies how success on the field/court/ice can only do so much in terms of driving traffic/discussion on this site. The Football team had a better run of success from 2012-2016 than at any time in the history of this website. The posts/traffic still paled in comparison to what it was in the Brandon years when this site was in its heyday with a football team that was very good yet still consistently underachieved.

But back to the subject at hand...this really should have been put in the Other schools forum. Putting it in the Hoops section just clutters it up making it more difficult for me to pick out the other 1-2 threads that have been posted in for the last 3 months.

ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Thad Matta out at OSU
If you look down this forum close to have the posts are about other schools or other school's coaches. Let's have those all moved so this forum can be be even more dead please. Plus there are a few about BG but someone brought up Trump in them so they need to be deleted altogether because discussion of politics will not be tolerated.
Re: Thad Matta out at OSU
I'm sure the traffic being down is a cultural trend to some degree, but I think a lot of people just have apathy toward BG athletics.
Greg Christopher and his regime created a divide in a lot of ways.
1.There became a huge disconnect between the "town" of Bowling Green and BGSU Athletics. Both individual people and many of the towns independently owned businesses.
2. A lot of smaller Falcon Club Members or lower money donors were made to feel like they were unimportant. Many were pressed to donate more money and said screw it and walked away. (Christopher countered this by making many events come with a Falcon Club memebership, skewing the numbers to make it seem as if memebership was up).
3. His approach to focus on only "revenue" sports has basically eliminated any pride in department success. He took the most successful men's program (by far) and essentially put it on a path to irrelevance.
I know many Alums and people in Bowling Green that just don't care much anymore. Too much losing and focus on only certain sports has created a poor overall product. I think that is reflected on this board.

I don't know if this is why traffic is down, but this does seem true about this board.Globetrotter wrote:the community doesn't seem to be real positive here. A lot of complaining.
