Hopefully we're playing a home-and-home series with Lourdes & we can all check out their gym in 2018-19 then.Flipper wrote:Lourdes Gym is a pole barn..a nice pole barn...but it's basically a pole barn

No reason to be playing more than 1 non D1 opponent. With the budget and facility this program has, it should be competing every year for the conference championship. I'm fine with giving Huger time to get it headed that way, but that should be the expectation.
The hockey program should be the same way in the WCHA. Baffling more isn't demanded from these programs.

I'm about as thrilled to see Lourdes (and Lake Erie for that matter) on the schedule as anyone else is. But let's not forget that we lost at home to Ferris State a few years ago with an NBA player on our roster in the lone season we've even been halfway decent in the last decade. I strongly dislike having two of these games on the schedule and would much rather have had an away (money) game instead, but it's what we're stuck with. We just better not pull another "Ferris State" in either one of them.
GO BG!!!
Re: Non-Conference Schedule Released - #PATHETIC
How do games against NAIA teams like Lourdes count? Does it even have an effect on strength of schedule or RPI since they aren't a NCAA school?
BG '10
Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Doesn't count in RPI

From an RPI standpoint, it's actually better to play a school like Lourdes than one of the bottom 100 DI RPI schools because Lourdes gets ignored. The drudge of DI basketball pulls your RPI down even if you beat them. From every other standpoint, though, I'd rather play a DI bottom feeder.drumstix2388 wrote:How do games against NAIA teams like Lourdes count? Who cares about RPI? The only thing that matters is winning the MAC Tourney. We can play Lourdes 5x but I don't think that helps us win the MACC. Playing higher caliber P5 schools does....imo! And should we win the MACC playong Top 40 schools prepares us for a potential win in the big dance. Playing Lourdes, Madonna and Adele does not.

Very happy to see the away game with Drexel. Philly is a hot bed for talent. BG finally has recruited players from the Philly metro area. My only chance to see BG is when they play in the Philly metro area. Friday night game at Drexel should be fun to go to.

If Richaun has time, I would hope he would go to the game to support his alma mater.Falconian wrote:Very happy to see the away game with Drexel. Philly is a hot bed for talent. I grew up in BG - was even one of the Junior Falcons on the David Greer, David Jenkins, Colin Irish, Bill Faine regular season champs that lost at home in the tourney finals against OU (They brought their damned band and booted a couple hundred of our students out of our student section. Still don;t know why they were allowed to do that).
I now live in Chesapeake, and my wife works at ODU. I am totally stoked to know that I get to see the guys in person two consecutive Saturdays in December.
But I too wonder why in the world they didn't just find a way to make it one trip. Maybe they'll stay and hang out a the beach for a week.

The men's soccer team is comin' to your ci-tay over Labor Day Weekend. They play at both Penn and Drexel. Games are Sept 1 & 3, but I forget which opponent is which day.Falconian wrote:Very happy to see the away game with Drexel. Philly is a hot bed for talent. We're heading east a lot...are we leaving the MAC for the A10?

Thanks for the soccer information. FYI, you should come to Philly and you can visit the Three Stooges Museum referred to as the Stoogeum. I already have plans to take my grandson, who loves soccer, to see Army - Navy soccer game at the Phila Union stadium, and in November, take him to a game at the Naval Academy.

And if anyone doesn't want to read the article and would instead like to save a click to see the list of opponents, here they are:
Nov. 2 – CAPITAL (Exhibition)
Nov. 10 – at Drexel
Nov. 13 – SOUTH DAKOTA
Nov. 18 – FLORIDA GULF COAST (Bill Frack Challenge)
Nov. 20 – LAKE ERIE COLLEGE (Campbell University MTE Opener)
Nov. 24-26 – at Campbell University MTE (Buies Creek, N.C.)
Nov. 29 – SAN JOSE STATE
Dec. 2 – at Norfolk State
Dec. 5 – EVANSVILLE
Dec. 9 – at Old Dominion
Dec. 21 – at Green Bay
Dec. 28 – LOURDES
I like getting FGCU at home. Dunk City should be an entertaining squad to host at the Stroh this season. The non-conference schedule as a whole leaves a bit to be desired, but I think just seeing the Falcons back on the hardwood will be enough to make me happy. Let's go win some ballgames, fellas.
Here's what I hate about this schedule: it is loaded with no-name programs that can be far better reputation. SD, ODU, SJS, UFGC. Ya gotta beat these teams by 15 or it's a blemish on our roster.
Hopefully, we can come out of December with a good non-conference RPI.
