Surprised people were expecting to see something different from Morgan? He's never going to be a above avg QB.

He's the type of guy that needs a coaching staff that can really scheme a game plan to help him. We don't have that....there's be a lot of frustration watching the Falcons this year.

I feel like we're watching the exact same team as we did for an entire season last year. And that's not good.

I'll take last years team. Copper and Greene would be welcome addition to our backfield.

That isn't possible...we gave up 77 twice last year in the first 4 games. lol. IF we don't improve as the season goes on, then I will be concerned.

Morgan has now started 8 games and played in 13. I am worried.
Agree. I feel like we're watching Matt Schilz all over again. I was hoping to see signs of this "big improvement" he allegedly made over the offseason. We didn't see any of it. He's got to be WAY better than hitting one out of every three passes for us to have a chance at anything this year.

It is absolutely possible, but the scenario you're using as a comparison won't happen because BG won't face a team capable of putting that up this year on us. But put the product we saw today against the Ohio State and Memphis we saw last year, and they'd both maul us again. This Michigan State team is nothing whatsoever like Ohio State, but BG appears to still be the same BG we were last year.

If I'm coaching BG I'm treating the first quarter of the South Dakota game next week like a Dave Clawson did the first quarter vs Tulsa several year ago. He gave Schilz the opportunity but he failed, and Clawson made a ballsy and what proved to be a HUGE and correct decision to turn it over the Johnson and the rest was history. Morgan without a doubt MUST do something right off the bat next week or we could be smelling a jersey burning.

Well the OSU that put up 49 the other night would still put up 70 on us.

And yet MSU almost beat OSU last year, losing 17-16. That was actually a joke, btw. I'm willing to let the season play out before throwing it into the dumpster.

The defense seemed improved to me. But they won't fair any better with today's offense.

Per John Wagner: Lorenzo Taborn suffered a shoulder injury in warm-ups. Severity unknown at this point.

Jeez, we lost a starting OL in warmups??? Hopefully it's not serious. Jinks said we have essentially have one guy who is a backup that is ready/able to play and we tapped into that today.

Defense allowed four scores while being on the field for 40 minutes. The unit looked much improved. Offense needs a ton of work.

I think we need to incorporate the RB's into the passing game much more. As much as we operate out of the shotgun, and as much as Morgan is still struggling to compete passes downfield, he needs to hit some of our backs on some dump offs into the flats on bubble screens or look for them when they slip off in pass pro. Toledo used bubble screens like its no one's business and we made a killing off of it when we were good before Jinks took over when Johnson would dump it off to Greene. It sometimes became a staple of sorts when Knapke couldn't hit guys downfield too and can aid as an extension of our running game since it's what we want to do. It could do Morgan and our offense some good.

Ahhh, Greene wasn't on the team last year.
