The old "LT"Falcon head logo...Merchandise?

Post by BowlingGreen80 »

Huge fan of the old logo. In fact, that was my first BG memory....turning on SportsChannel in 1996 on my parent's massive satellite dish and seeing those cool brown jerseys, white pants, and that orange helmet with that abstract logo on the helmet. There was nothing like it in college football - so powerful yet slightly elegant. I instantly became a fan.

I also felt it gave BG it's identity amongst some of the more "trendy" or cartoon-like logos that were part of the new wave of branding in college sports (don't get me started on the new BG logo and how every logo these days looks like it came from the same graphic artist).

Which leads me to this.....

1, Is there anywhere I can get something with the old logo on it? If not, I may have to go through the trouble of getting shirts made (while simultaneously avoiding the wrath of the legal and marketing departments which is an road I don't want to go down.)

2. Who designed the logo? I noticed it appeared sometime around 1979/80. Reading the BG News reveals nothing about it.

Thanks!

Please update us if you hear any more about new merchandise being available.

When they started the switch over years ago, I bought up everything I could find with the old logo and a lot of that stuff is starting to show a lot of wear, so I would love to get ahold of some new stuff.

I'm just finishing a garage I built this summer and on the inside I did an "accent wall" in orange with brown trim. My wife is an artist and will be painting a huge LT logo on the back wall. I need her to hurry up and get it painted so people that come over and see the garage will stop assuming I'm a Browns fan. I also have a big "Fat Head" type LT logo on the wall in my man cave.

I have the original .EPS "LT" logo if she needs something to trace if you want to get the dimensions perfect.

Also - these should be a reality....looks so good on modern Nike material.

Nike does stock a brown shade for team sales. It's under "Dark Cinder"
