Here was an idea that was brought up on a talk show earlier today. Wonder what athletes would choose?

1. Free education, room and board and meals.

OR

2. Eliminate All athletic scholarships and allowances having every student athlete pay for his/her own education but allowed to get paid for playing sports (paid by school or sponsors).

Sounds fair. At schools like OSU and Notre Dame, after room, board, and travel expenses, the kids could live lavishly and graduate college wealthy.

This approach would barely matter to the mid-major players, who work just as hard and aren't recognized by the media. They'd cover everything and generally break-even.
