Is THIS the worst team in school history???
Is THIS the worst team in school history???
This question was raised last year when we actually had a win under our belt at the time. This is BG's worst start in nearly 30 years (since 1988), we lost to our first FCS school in 30 years (since 1987), we lost to Akron for the first time since Gregg Brandon was our coach, and our head coach is now 4-13 after inheriting a MAC Championship team that was beating Power Five teams while winning titles before he took it over, and has has driven it straight into the frickin' ground, while also absorbing not one - but TWO - of the worst losses in PROGRAM HISTORY!!! So what's the excuse going to be this week??? Jinks said so himself that Akron was allegedly on par with us, with all the so-called parity he sees in the MAC, which for the record, I do not. There's a few good teams, a couple so-so, and the rest are terrible. Akron beat us by two scores - on our home field - and matched their turnovers gained for the season in today's game alone. So Jinks can save the coach speak. He might see something we don't in practice, but we all see what he tries to hide in games. My eyes don't lie and I don't need to sit and listen to someone spew false hope. Unlike Jinks, I don't need "to watch the tape" to see how frickin' terrible we look and play. I see it live and don't need to pause and rewind pathetic performances in search of a silver lining, because there isn't one. He continues to prove he's clearly in over his head. And we're paying him alone nearly a half a million dollars a year for this!
We are beyond pathetic right now and are an embarassment to the history of this once-proud program. This past season and a half have been a train wreck. The remainder of my season tickets are laying in the grass behind the south end zone if anyone wants them. Seriously, I literally tossed them. I am done wasting a single dollar more or another second of time on this piss-poor program right now. It's not worth the frustration or heartache for a program I've bleed for since stepping on campus. Last year ripped me up, but this year has buried me and covered me up. There's simply zero enjoyment for me surrounding this program right now, and I'm done feeding into it. The game results are humiliating, we get pushed around on our home field and the trips home from road games are mind numbing. I'll be back when I can stomach it again. But right now, it's time to focus on other things worth while, and this isn't one of them.

The guy's in over his head. Honestly if you want change it's best to email Moose and voice your displeasure and to save yourself the frustration and find something else to do on game days. The program right now is a waste of time and energy.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is the worst Bowling Green team that I have seen in my almost 60 years of watching Falcon football. That being said, I don’t put all of the blame on Coach Jinx. There is plenty to go around, including the President ( not Trump), Kingston, and Babers. Coach Jinx inherited a mess, created by the others, but has done little so far to improve the situation other than some decent recruits that need time to fit into the college game. He didn’t have enough college experience and contacts to hire a very experienced staff, but does have some of the attributes to be a good head coach. Here’s hoping it’s sooner or later.

You got the spelling of his name correct Factman. Lol
Bruce Gradkowski is now an assistant High School coach. Maybe we can hire him next.

It's the worst "coached" team I've seen since Blackney threw in the towel at the end of his run. This team looks so clueless out there...

IMO, the worst team in BG history is 1988...2-8-1 but getting blown out on a weekly basis by 30-40 pts. Beat lowly Ohio U 42-0 and 1-AA YSU, 20-16. Lost to EMU that year at home, 28-3. Tied an even worse 0-10-1 Miami team .

Moe Ankney had some really bad teams during his illustrious run. 1988 he was 2-8-1 and finished 8th in the MAC.

Re: Is THIS the worst team in school history???
I know we suck, Jinks is the worst coach in history, blah blah blah. BUT, as the headline asks, "Is THIS the worst team in school history???" Three question marks mean it's a very serious question. Let's break it down scientifically, shall we?
The 1919 team went 0-3 and got shut out in all three games.
The 1935 team went 1-6 and got outscored by a combined 246-0 in the first six games. Those coaches shows at Frickers each Monday night were a nightmare for poor Harry Ockerman***.
After going 7-2 the previous year, the 1953 team went 1-8 and only held one team under 20 points all season. This was when touchdowns were only worth 2 points***, so as you might expect, coach Robert H. Whittaker and his porous defense were roasted all season long here on the AZZ board.
The 1954 team then went 2-7, and people were unfollowing Coach Whittaker on Twitter*** at an alarming rate.
In 1970, some chump named Don Nehlen 'led' the Falcons to a 2-6-1 record. The season ended with a 23-7 loss to West Texas State, which was not a actually a college, but a bank.****
Moe Ankney's 1988 team, as some people have mentioned, went 2-8-1, losing their first five games by a combined 216--51. That included a 62-14 loss to West Virginia, a 49-12 loss to TCU and a 34-5 loss to the team from the Glass City. It was also mentioned above, but that team tied a Miami team that went 0-10 in its other 10 games.
Gary Blackney's 2000 team went 2-9 and he resigned after an 0-4 start, but coached the remainder of the season. IIRC, he burnt true freshman Josh Harris's redshirt in like the eighth game of the season, using him as a running back and kickoff returner..
Clawson's second team, as many have mentioned, went 2-10, the first double-digit loss season in program history if I'm not mistaken. Students were walking around campus wearing "2-10 in 2010" T-shirts.*** That team gave up 65 points to Michigan, 49 to an unremarkable Ohio team and ended the year with a 41-7 home loss to Western Michigan in front of a cellphone plan (friends and family) crowd at the Doyt.
So, "Is THIS the worst team in school history???" I don't know, but I think the Chicken-Little Sky-is-Falling crap is getting really freakin' old. Yeah, it sucks that we suck, but things are cyclical in the MAC, and good teams go through bad spells and then become good again. I don't know if Jinks will turn things around, but I'm not going to jump off a tall building just because we're 0-5 when, at best, I thought we'd be 2-3. If we are still spinning our wheels at this time net year, then I might sing a different tune, but until then, I'll keep supplying all of you with nothing but facts, like I've done in this entire post***.

I was on a lousy intramural flag football team in 1981 at BG. I think we went 1-7 and we carried our coach off the field on or shoulders after that win.
I also have some experiences on intramural basketball and softball teams at BG that I am not proud of.
There, I said it!

Re: Is THIS the worst team in school history???
I think some of ya'll are severely underestimating at how empty Dino left the fridge. Dino came in with the talent STACKED from how good Clawson was. Clawson is a total program builder. Don't forget Clawson had a 2 win team and then brought in all the talent to become 2 time MAC champs with all his players. I don't we know if Jenks is a good coach yet or not. I can say that I know for a fact that Dogge is a better QB than Morgan at this point. Morgan just looks in slow motion this year with hid decision making and has been very inaccurate.
