Hambb,
Got to say I totally disagree with you on this. So he grabs ball, either falls on it deep in BG territory, or he runs a bit and stops. So WE now can kill clock at least for 90 sec. or so. Not sure if MU had a TO left, but what if we fumble the snap?
Guess I'll take the 7 pts. And make them go length of field ( though sounded like they came too close as it was.)
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

In a perfect world, he picks it up, runs to the other 1 or yardline, waits on RedHawks to catch up using another 4-5 seconds and takes a knee. Even if we fumble a snap then they would still have 98 yards to go, or we could run a play or two to run off clock and then score! ;)

Coaches were screaming for him to get down but the sideline is very chaotic when something like that fumble/scoop occurs. The coaches instantly recognized that he needed to get down (Miami had only one time out) but he couldn't hear. And his teammates were in escort mode. And the bench was just whooping and running etc and nothing could be heard.

Obviously factman is correct carry the ball to the other end then go down and kneel it out. But that is not in any defensive player's mind and they are coached to scoop and score in that type of loose ball situation. I was not in pre snap huddle, but I am sure nobody said get down on a loose ball scoop situation, They were concentrating on creating a scrum fumble and etc. You can see we were crashing down and Konowalski actually makes the play by preventing the QB from covering the ball.

Harris' play reminded of an offensive play where we could have possibly closed out (would have closed out) a win. But you can't fault Freddie Barnes one of our best ever either. In the Potato Bowl Freddie beats Idaho deep from Sheehan to apparently win. Vandals literally peel off and don't even chase him. At all. Freddie could have stayed out of the end zone for at least 10 or 15 seconds on that play. We later lost on essentially last play. After a guy was given a first down on a pass that bounced. We probably win with replay so we forgive you Freddie!

Go Falcons!

Miami had only 1 TO left. All we had to do was take a knee a couple times and clock was gone.

I just think you have a FAR better chance to win the game by completing the snaps and taking a knee 3x than you do asking your defense (which had just given up a big drive) to hold on, even if you are up 8 points so that the game is guaranteed to go to OT.

In a late game situation possession of the ball is oftentimes more valuable than points.

But hey, it worked out. And I get that it's asking a lot of the defensive guy to have that sort of situational awareness. Which is why I think, if I were a defensive coach, I would have made sure my defense knew to get DOWN on any turnover and not try to score it. In a perfect world, of course, you'd return it to the 1 or 2, then go down. But possession of the ball was more valuable to guaranteeing victory than an additional 7 points.

It's just like the RB who breaks through the Line when you're trying to bleed clock. You don't WANT that guy to run for a 60 yard TD, you want him to get the first and go down so you can bleed more clock.

The nice thing is, for a change of pace, we're arguing how we want our team to handle things in an "icing the game" type situation. Beats the hell out of trying to figure out how to fix a team losing by double digits every week.

Freak also in the Caribbean so if BG wins we may need to leave him down there, he could be the Jinx for Jinks.
LOL! My twitter feed and live stats link were going so slowly in the DR. I had to come back yesterday, which sucked. I would have loved another week there.

That being said, will be there Sat to see us beat OU. And we will beat them.

If you're in attendance and we lose we may need to start a GoFundMe page to send Freak out of the country again.
