And don’t forget, that QB with over 300 yards of offense and 3 TD’s wasn’t their #1 QB either. He threw for over 200 and rushed for close to 100.gmartin wrote:And NIU playing without it's best linebacker and without it's #1 RB and we still are losing by over 30.

Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

NIU came up with 338 yards on the ground. That's three opponents with 300+ on the ground. Only once did we hold somebody to under 200. If I had to pick one statistical reason why BG is a lucky play from winless, I'd go with the rush defense. When opponents can run the ball that well, they can control the clock, the pace of the game, and field position.

At least we haven't set the record for fewest yards in a football game. Kansas did that yesterday. Only 20 yards of total offense. Maybe they could put Kansas versus BG in a bowl game.

Blasphemy! They look great together.BGSU33 wrote:Neither do orange and brown. Just sayin’.
This game was an ugly, ugly mess. I couldn't get ESPN3 to work, so I listened, and it sounded pretty awful.
For perspective, it's worth remembering that Northern Illinois is arguably the best team we will face all year. They hammered Nebraska and lost to Boston College and San Diego State by a total of eight points. They would probably beat anyone on our schedule except (maybe) Sparty. Also, we had some pretty bad injuries.
The decision to pull Morgan is interesting. Loy isn't the future here, so I suppose Jinks got so frustrated he just couldn't beat to watch Morgan play any more and let Loy see if he could get some experience that would justify giving him a shot against Eastern Michigan.
I also wonder if Jinks and his staff are still privately toying with the idea of a medical redshirt for Doege.
Yesterday was a frustrating day. I was at last year's Northern Illinois-Bowling Green game, so I expected this to be closer. But the Huskies are clearly a lot better than they were. We aren't, certainly not so long as we are struggling this badly at quarterback.
