O-Line facing some troubles

I don't see how a redshirt doesn't get burned tonight. This part of the article really stuck out to me:

"Redshirt seniors Hunter, McAuliffe and Clancy are part of Dave Clawson’s final signing class, while Labus, Lucke and Kramer are the only three offensive linemen that signed during Dino Babers’ era.

The rest of the offensive linemen on Bowling Green’s roster — Tanner, Kurtz, Neverov, Dziengelewski, Downs, Bright, Taborn, Blair, Ware and Zach Sharp, who is currently away from the team, — have signed in Jinks’ two classes."

How does Clawson still have the same number of linemen here as Babers? I haven't been a huge Jinks defender (although probably more than a lot of the people here), but this really highlights that he had a more difficult path to winning than I saw at first.

It highlights Babers' risky play while he was here. He pretty much put all his eggs in one basket in hoping that Johnson & Co. would win him a MAC championship within two years so he could move on to something bigger. Never heard of a coach recruiting so few OL, it's quite shocking.

Babers was the worst thing to happen to BG football in 50 years. We will be paying for him next year and maybe the year after. Jinks seems to be following the Clawson model. Not burning redshirts hurts in the near term but builds depth necessary for winning championships in the long term. Dino left the cupboard bare, plain and simple.

Bright, Clancy and Kurtz played well in relief last week at Kent.

Babers? Good riddance.

Seems to me that Jinks is playing more and more of those talented freshmen as this season goes along. I don't blame him. Get them experience and have a much better team in a year or so when their bodies can catch up with good weight training and nutrition. Doege needs to put on about 20 pounds of muscle, especially if they want him to run.
