With Clair and Doege I see true potential for our offense, but if we don't have a new DC next year it will be another bad year for BG football.

Disappointing to see the defense make several mistakes last night on simple coverage schemes. Numerous times Fred Garth didn't come over for support on cover 2 coverages which led to big plays. Then BG goes to press coverage and gets abused off the ball for big gains. Can't win for losing. There's talent in the secondary but the coaching/awareness seems to be severely lacking.

With even a halfway competent DC, I think BG wins this game. That's how bad I think the defensive coaching has been this year. I see talent on that defense, but the schemes make me shake my head and yell at the TV. Honestly, I have ragged on Jinks for being a bad coach, but if he's the one putting the offense together, he's done a decent job of infusing the young talent as the season has gone along. His biggest deficiency at this point is who he hired as his coaches on defense.

Defense is definitely the glaring issue at this point. Special teams have been superb. The offense is coming along nicely.
