Exhibition Game

Post by FalconRollAlong »

BG won 92-62 over Seton Hill in their opening exhibition match.

I wasn't at the game myself, but I'm hoping there were some improved performances from last year.

Watched online. Started very similar to last year particularly with a starting lineup of vets. Playing out of control, sloppy, throwing up layups hard off the glass and giving up open 3's. After a tight first quarter and half of the second, BG opened up the lead by playing more effectively. Last half was all BG with the lead quickly worked up to 20 early in the 3rd qtr. Lambert was solid the whole game, but Fr. Sierra Thompson was all over the place in the 2nd half, shooting 5 for 5 and showing speed on the break. Good 3 shooting from both Fr. Guards Kennedy Williams (3 for 3 late), and Madisen Parker early. Also thought Uecker had some good moves in the post. #1 recruit Angela Perry was in street clothes for this one. Conclusion they did what they should against the opposition. That was not always the case last year. I think there is more speed this year which should help and maybe better long range shooting that was previously a BG trademark. I still question D though against better opponents.

One Miriam Justinger is the Graduate Assistant coach, working on her MBA. The Thompson "twins" were awesome and showed hustle and speed. The two freshman guards put in a good showing. Now, if they can get open and keep shooting well, we might forget about the nightmare that has been the last 3 seasons.....

The nicest thing about Sierra Thompson is she seems to have good hands and when the ball comes to her, she knows what to do with it. Honest! She goes to the rim instead of stumbling and fumbling. Lambert's game was "on" and Santoro was steady. Andrea Cecil and Jane Uecker look to have improved. Maddie? I think she's going to find her playing time decreased, kinda like Sarah Baer from a couple of years ago.

Well, let's see how it rolls.

Not to hype things up, but Sierra Thompson is going to lead us to a conference championship. Just watch.

Kennedy Williams wasn't shy about running the show. She and all the frosh showed the poise of veterans.

Is she really 5'6" or did the media guide add a couple extra inches to her height? :D

I saw several reasons to be hopeful for this year. Far from a perfect game. Let's see how they do against good D-1 competition but I liked what I saw in the second half of the game.

Check out the pix of the 3 young ladies signed today. TWO are listed as 5'9", one at 6'2". If the young lady in middle of group pic is 5'9 then I must be 6'8"!
I understand they like to boost and hype these kids, but please!
