I don't blame him, but his recruiting is part of the problem. I don't know if Jinks will be the guy. If he's not and he has several good recruiting classes, then the next coach will be in position to win. I'll read these posts and continue to cheer on the team.CrazyFan wrote:Hahahahahahaha! You select few that blame Babers for this team being horrible is mind boggling ridiculous. Thanks for the good laugh, everytime I have to read your nonsense, and cheers!![]()

SPOT ON.hammb wrote:Babers was not a great recruiter, but he was a damned good coach.
Jinks may be a good recruiter, but doesn't look like he could coach his way out of a wet paper bag.
I'll take the better coach any day. I'd much rather listen to Babers talk than clueless Jinks. And I'd much rather watch Babers teams than Jinks' teams. Jinks may eventually build a program here and learn how to coach, but right now he looks completely lost. We'll see how great his recruiting is if he cannot figure out how to actually win games.
More likely to me is not that Babers couldn't recruit or left us in some trainwreck. More likely to me is that Babers recruited kids that could play and win with his style of football. Jinks has no clue how to build an offense like that and that renders a lot of Dino's recruits less useful than they would have been to him. It sucks that we only got 2 years of that style of football, but it was a helluva 2 years. Beats the hell out of what we've got now where I don't even know what day of the week we play until I see a "game thread"

Seems like a good time for a hockey reference.Roll Along! wrote:"I'd rather have a lot of talent and a little experience than a lot of experience and a little talent." -- John Wooden
Talent trumps all. PJ Fleck is not known as a great tactician of the game and he has even admitted as much. But his overwhelming talent at WMU was unbeatable. There's a difference between being a "Coach" (running and being the face of a program) and being a "Tactician". By most accounts, Jinks is a good "Coach" but not a good "Tactician". Put people around you who know the Xs and Os (this is Jinks' biggest issue IMO) and everything else will come together.

Fleck had a bad first year, and many were upset with his antics. The whole "Row the Boat," rubbed many in a wrong way, and his initial results were poor. His second year, he made great improvement, but took a step back in year 3. Last year he put together a great season, and used that to cash in on a pay day. We will see how good of a coach he is at Minnesota, and if he can continue to pull in recruits.guest44 wrote:This idea that PJ Fleck can't coach is as ridiculous as the comparisons of Jinks to Fleck. Fleck won the game in Toledo that gift wrapped a BG MAC Title. Fleck went 12-0 in the much tougher MAC West. Meanwhile, Solich is treated as a great coach, after losing that East division pillow fight last night.

This. FLeck is coaching up a Minnesota team that really doesn't have that much talent. Give him a little time to improve that roster, and he's going to have Minnesota challenging for Big Ten West division title within two years. Given their rivalry with Wisconsin, it will be very interesting to see how he does in that series.guest44 wrote:This idea that PJ Fleck can't coach is as ridiculous as the comparisons of Jinks to Fleck.
